Wow… wow… wow…!

Our great friends at the Sussex Dolphin Project were determined to study the humpback whale spotted off Newhaven and the Seven Sisters recently… and what a privilege to actually spend some time in its presence.

The video makes for an incredible watch and please do report any sightings to them. We’ll be supporting them again this year by having their volunteers join us and they’ll be running guided trips along our coast a little later in the year.

Soooo excited to see this footage and share their joy…!

Yet more incredible Humpback Whale sightings along our coast. This time just off the Seven Sisters yesterday afternoon (Sunday 12th Jan). What a week it’s been for Sussex and its marine life. 🤩

What a beautiful afternoon on Seaford Beach. So many people enjoying the sunshine but it was certainly too chilly for running trips out there today regrettably. Our time will come…! ☀️☀️☀️

He’s just returned from a Christmas trip to New York with a tub of Sussex Boat Trips branded M&M’s…! Obviously they’re orange too. Genius. 🎁 Happy Christmas everyone…! 🎄

Spotted at Cuckmere Haven this morning… a White Tailed Eagle…! It was absolutely mahoosive…! This photo is courtesy of bird.org who also gave this great description: “Massive raptor with rather long, heavy bill; broad, plank-like wings; and relatively short, graduated tail. Looks like a flying barn door and soars with wings rather level (not slightly raised like Golden Eagle). Feeds predominantly on fish.” To be fair though, even to the untrained eye, it did look like a flying barn door…!!!

We’re out on the water all this week albeit not from Newhaven. Southampton Water and the surrounding area has so much more to offer from a training perspective. Where else would you see a cruise ship lighting up a dark night for instance… whilst you’ve no sense of feeling in your legs due to the cold…?! 🥶 😀

It’s been a while since we’ve posted anything but it’s all still go at SBT Towers. We continue to train and teach whilst onshore and this week saw us passing on a few skills to those just starting in the industry. Next week the tables are turned as we’re in Southampton for some on the water training to potentially allow us to offer even more exciting adventures…! Exhausting training but hopefully really rewarding come this time next week. All we need now is for the wind to drop below 60mph…! 😬

Airbourne to return in 2025…!

We’ve everything crossed that the use of the Red Arrows in all of the promotional reports we’ve seen means that they’re making a welcome return next year. 🤞 Only time will tell but we’ll let you know as soon as we hear more.

In the meantime, we aim to be there next year so keep an eye on the website for when the trips are released. It’s an incredible afternoon on the water with undoubtedly the best seat in the house…!

Organisers say the event can go ahead next year after meeting its "cost neutral" target.
