The next after and before…😍✨

Unbelievable really, isn’t it? What once resembled the top of an old crumbly castle has been totally transformed into a beautiful open plan kitchen/living room space. Plus the open beams upstairs are the original beams that formed the old tractor shed at the back of The Barn 👏

The next glow up is the hallway 😍✨

From rubble to a beautiful, light, airy space, this is the room that will welcome you first as you step into The Barn. We particularly love the rustic pew, which was given to us by some pub-owning friends, and the room was actually built to fit around it!

Our next before and after…the master bathroom 😍

This part of the barn was originally where the cows were kept, and there were even names etched of each cow into the walls. The first job in here was to kango up the concrete troughs and well, you can see just how much work has gone into this space to turn this into what is probably now one of our favourite rooms in the house 🛁✨

2020 ⏩️ 2024 ✨

When we first started out, The Barn was a derelict building with no electricity, running water or solid floors but a whole heap of potential. There is still work to be done around the outside including the balcony at the back, but here’s the before and after photos of the entire barn just to show the difference from then til now. Incredible to see how much it’s changed!

Ta dahhh…she’s finished 😍✨

We still need to put some pictures on the walls and find a few more bits of furniture, but generally speaking, the inside of the barn conversion is complete! To think that two years ago this was an old, dilapidated Cornish barn with bats in the roof and no electricity or running water is unreal. This has been a full on self-build, labour of love (and hate, at times 😅) with the ultimate aim of creating a stunning space that kept as much of the original character as possible - we couldn’t be prouder of the end result.

This also means we’re going to be up and running for stays next year, hooray! 👏🌟 The Barn at Higher Lanherne Farm sleeps up to 8 people in three generous bedrooms, there’s a big family bathroom and en-suite in the master, and the whole upstairs floor is an open plan kitchen/living space with uninterrupted views out across the fields towards the North Cornish coastline.

We’ll be taking bookings from July 2024 because now that the inside’s done we need to move onto sorting the groundworks and outdoor areas, but we’ll be releasing dates and how to book really soon, so keep an eye out. We have got a list of people who have signed up to be the first to hear about holidays at Higher Lanherne Farm so we’ll be sending the info out to that list first. If you’d like to be on it, please message us with your email address 🫶

Progress since February! 🛠️

Hello everyone 👋 sorry we haven’t posted for quite a while, we’ve been a bit busy…

But the second photo popped up as a memory from two years ago and we can’t believe how much has happened since! The first photo is the back of the barn from the neighbouring field as it looks today - it just needs railings up on the decking but then the outside is completely done! 👏

There has been loads of progress inside too and it’s looking like we’ll be ready to take bookings for next year soon, so please message us if you’d like to be the first to hear about 2024 availability and we’ll add you to our list.

We’ll share some ‘big reveal’ photos of the inside real soon 👀

The upstairs is taking shape nicely! The open plan space is painted, the outside deck area has been cladded, some of the kitchen units are in place and the tiling behind the log burner is complete 🙌

Summer is coming…🌞✨

We’ve got the most perfect sunset sea view too- it fades right into the horizon! 😍

Barn progress 😍✨ SO much has happened since we last posted (sorry for the radio silence #life) and we know we’re well overdue for an update…so this is it! This is a walk through of how The Barn currently looks- hasn’t it changed so much?! The extension’s been built, slab’s down, walls are (back) up/repaired, lintels are on and ring beam is next on the list 💪 This video takes you through the front door, before showing you the third bedroom, bathroom/utility space, and then the two big bedrooms out the back with exposed, internal brickwork and *those* views 🥰 This is just downstairs, upstairs still to go…

Some good news...🍾 Planning permission has been granted on The Barn! After several pushbacks due to coronavirus and an added three month wait on top of our original ‘find out’ date, we can finally celebrate and get to work on transforming this knackered old barn into something pretty special. It’ll all be worth it in the end 🥳
