We had another seal survey today with the Cornwall Seal Group research trust and once again on the way back we came across the humpback whale roughly in the same place where it was yesterday.
Still feeding gently along the coast.

While returning to Newquay from Padstow this afternoon after a survey with Cornwall Seal Group Research Trust I passed the area where the Humpback Whales had been spotted…..
I got lucky
There were at least 2
Possibly 3
I’m hoping we might get an ID from the fluke shots
FANTASTIC
 (just for information these photos were taken at least 500 m away using a long zoom lens as not to disturb the whale also WiSE guidelines were followed)

UPDATE….
This is a whole “new” Whale on the data base
It has been named “Liz Varney”

We will be running Sea Safari trips throughout half term week.
This will take in the area where the humpback whales have been spotted. (there are at least two. )
They are still here and have been feeding in the same area for about five weeks !!
If we do come across the whale we will of course give it the distance and respect it rightly deserves

Well it’s that time of year again !!!
The whales are back here in Cornwall…..
Recently there have been up to 3 humpback whales in the Isles of Scilly and on New years Eve one was spotted by my lovely wife off NEWQUAY
It has been seen each day since feeding between pentire head and watergate bay
Good friends of mine Brenda and Adrian Tregunna got this amazing photo just yesterday

Out in Falmouth Bay again today with Exeter University we had spectacular sightings of at least 20 Bottlenose dolphins.
I’ve not seen Bottlenose dolphins for at least two years
this was very special

Hi everyone
So another spectacular day in Falmouth Bay
Doing some research work with Exeter University and students
we saw
Minke Whales, Common Dolphins, blue fin tuna,Harbour porpoise and many many seabirds thanks to University and all of the students

The boat is under charter to Exeter University for a few days so I brought the boat from Newquay to Falmouth this afternoon along the way I saw about 50 or 60 Common dolphins 2 sunfish a handful of bluefin tuna and a Minke whale.

Some great common dolphin sightings here in Newquay over the last few days here are just a few photos.
They have also been lots of feeding gannets and shearwaters around

We’ve had a great couple of days out spotting for blue sharks.
On the way back from today’s encounter we came across a breaching sunfish which Rebecca managed to catch on video.

Did you know that Newquay Harbour now has a sand chair available for anyone that needs to use it? You'll find it over with us at the bottom of our slipway, please feel free to use it and if you need any extra assistance one of our friendly team will be ahppy to help.

A collaboration was brought about by Newquay Sea Safaris and Fishing joint owner Annabelle Lowe who is disabled and loves the sandy marine environment but was saddened that wheelchair users and those with walking difficulties were unable to enjoy all this cool harbour community had to offer from swimming in the sea, beach lounging with family or enjoying the summer vibes of the pop-up food outlets at The Boathouse.

A collaboration developed between Cornwall Mobility Leanne Grose and Steve Over , who supplied the long term loan of the sand wheelchair and kindly delivered it)

Cornwall Council Harbour Master Kimberley Johnson ( who sort permissions from the harbours board) and Newquay Harbour are the first Cornwall Council Harbour to have a sand chair.
