Newquay Town Council Events will be lighting the beacon to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the D-Day landings in Normandy, France.

The beacon lighting will take place at the iconic Newquay landmark, the Huer’s Hut.

The sky is to be lit with beacons around the world at 9:15pm in an official national ceremony to mark the incredible achievement of the military forces.

Join them from 8:30 pm with the St Mawgan Military Wives Choir to kick off the event.

Participants will embark on a scenic mile-long route starting at the historic Huer’s Hut on King Edward Crescent, winding through Newquay town centre, gliding along Towan Beach, and finishing in the charming Newquay Harbour. Dress up in your shiniest attire or fish costumes to celebrate our rich fishing heritage—let’s turn Newquay into a sea of sparkling pilchards!

At the Harbour, the festivities continue with a vibrant array of stalls, exciting activities, and delicious food outlets, It’s a perfect day out for families! 🤩

We will certainly be there! 🙌
