We are all living through strange times, the Covid virus is affecting all of us in some way. The efforts of NHS, Care Home and Key workers has been extraordinary and we pay tribute to them.
The lock down is starting to be eased. As the country starts to look forward, we are looking at the coming summer and how we get back into operation.
On the 13th May the Government gave the ok for limited opening for Sports Activity providers. Water sports are included in this. Therefore Bare Feet Coasteer can open under certain strict guidelines.
· That we are able to work within the social distancing rules keeping 2 metres apart.
· Our operation must be wholly outdoors ie no changing rooms.
· That we only provide activities for either one person or a small group who have been isolating together such as family groups.
These guidelines are all achievable but will mean that we must review and plan the way we operate to ensure that we keep customers and ourselves safe. So I thought it would be worth giving a top line on how we will do this.
· In addition to our usual Normal Operating Procedures and Risk Assessment we will be working to a Covid - 19 NOP and Risk assessment agreed and provided by our governing body the National Coasteering Charter.
· Social Distancing at all times unless the situation requires intervention
· Payment can only be done electronically.
· Participation Forms are required to be filled in by all customers. These will be sent to you when you book and must be sent back electronically prior to your session date.
· Activities must be wholly outdoor. We will meet at the route. Maps will be provided. (It is very easy to find, only a few minutes walk or drive from central Newquay with parking at the route). We will bring all equipment in our van and the group will change in the open ready for the session. We request customers come wearing swimsuits bring a towel and an old pair of trainers. Belongings can be safely locked in the van during the session.
· We have always been very detailed with our equipment. Every bit of equipment has always been washed in steriliser and dried in sunlight after each session and this will continue but we will now wash everything twice and with longer dunking times. All kit will be dried in sunlight.
· Equipment will be rotated to ensure each group gets and freshly prepared set of kit. This is something we have always been proud to deliver at Bare Feet Coasteer.
· We will brief customers on all aspects of the techniques required for your coasteer session before we enter the water. As we must follow social distancing rules we will add an additional element to show customers how to help each other exit the water using wrist-to-wrist technique.
· Please be aware that the new guidelines will mean that we will have to adjust the routes, jump sizes and conditions so that we can operate with the new rules. (We can assure customers that we will still be able to deliver an amazing experience).
· Guides will wash and sterilise hands before equipment is touched.
· Guides will be checked for Covid - 19 symptoms before each session
High Temperature - New and Continuous Cough - A loss or change in your sense of smell
· If symptoms are present they will requested to self-isolate.
· If this happens after the session we will inform any customers immediately .
· We ask that our customers do the same -
Do not attend if you have symptoms before the session.
Please inform us if you or any of your group has symptoms after the session.
· Hand steriliser will be available for customers to use once they return from the water.
· We hope that you agree that these guidelines are practical and easy to implement without detracting from the amazing experience we offer.
· We look forward to getting back in the water and enjoying the incredible Coastline Newquay has to offer.
