Photos from this morning⛱️🧡 - and look at the car park pics - no one was more shocked than me to see at 9.50am it still wasn’t full nor queuing up the road 😮!!

Hence why this time of year is so great to visit. Less people around so you can explore Cornwall without all the madness that the summer hols bring!! Although though some love that summer madness, I used to, each to their own as they say!!

Absolute stunner of a day today ☀️.

From the cottage you can venture out to ‘The Kelsey’s’ (Headland between Polly Joke and Holywell) and you will be rewarded with views across to the Newquay bays one way and Holywell, Penhale and Perranporth the other …….. whilst encountering a few slightly friendly sheep along the way 🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑!

Morning all! Even though the weather today doesn’t look like it, summer is here so from now on, we are going to operating through our summer hours! Closing times will be flexible depending on how busy we are at the time of last orders. Food will be available on Monday through to Saturday (excluding Tuesday) in both meal times for lunch (12-2:30pm) and dinner (5-8:30). And Sunday we will be operating food service from 12-2:30, and the bar will be open in the evening.

Absolute beaut of a morning at the BEST time of year down here (still quiet, but when the sun does appear, it’s damn lovely and look at the colour of that sea) - watch out for ‘dangerous snakes’ on the coast paths too ….. oh hang on it’s a ‘hairy Mary’ maybe slightly less life threatening 🐛😂😂😂

We have just reduced the 31-May week by £200 as it’s getting a bit last minute!! Now £900, get in touch if you would like to come for a week!

THIS is what our lovely guests get to enjoy on those legendary hazy sunny days (the ones those accustomed to Cornwall know and cherish 😉).

THIS VIEW from the patio, sun all day, bird song, fewer winds than at the beach, tempting smells and the option for a cheeky quick one from The Cornishman and Old Albion Inn next door.

AND being in walking distance of the beach, being able to wander down at YOUR leisure, not at the ‘crack of dawn’ when the ‘quite expensive’ National Trust beach car park is usually always full by 8.30am!!

We are looking pretty booked for the next few weeks but do have 1 week left at the end of May - see photos for price and dates ⬇️☀️

In just a week the cottage garden has erupted, it’s amazing what a few days of sunshine can achieve, lifting both ours and the plants spirits 😀!!

Bottlebrush and Ragged Robin teasing us with nearly a flower, but the Sweet William, Sea Pinks, Arum Lilies, Pink Daisies, Geraniums and Clematis Montana are all showing off their ‘thing’!

Just an update regarding our 2025 tariff, as some of you organised bunch have already been asking to reserve weeks for next year 😲!

We will be posting the tariff up on our website soon…. we always give our existing guests ‘1st dibs’ on their weeks (if they are organised enough to know what their plans are next year), so once all that is settled we will get some prices and availability up …. so WATCH THIS SPACE!! 👀😎

We still have week commencing 26th April available at a reduced £600 for the week. That’s less than £100 per night for 4 people 😱.

Something to do on a sunny or rainy day?

Some people don’t like Newquay but I would say if you’ve never been, don’t listen to all the bad press it has had over the years, give it a chance. It’s got some beautiful areas to explore, you just have to look beyond the high street where even there, there are some fabulous surf shops, cafes, bakeries and even a couple of craft collectives have popped up now.

And if you’re not into the shops there’s plenty of other areas to discover. I love the place, defo worth spending a few hours over there, even walking across from Crantock over the Gannel at The Fern Pit Cafe or Penpol is an adventure in itself …… and you are guaranteed some of the most amazing views! 🩷

Newquay Harbour on the Newquay circular walk. 5.8 miles graded moderate. Link to walk: http://iwkc.co.uk/w/239

The walk starts in the centre of Newquay and passes the aquarium and harbour, then climbs to the Huer's Hut and follows the coast onto Towan Head where the Padstow Coast Guard built a lookout to oversee corrupt Newquay harbour officials and there are views across the bay to Trevose Head. From there, the route crosses one of Europe's best surf beaches - Fistral - to reach Pentire Point where there are panoramic views over Fistral and Crantock. The walk then heads up the Gannel estuary and through the gardens past the boating lake at Trenance to the Victorian viaduct. The circular route is completed by a couple of residential roads and the trackbed of the horse-drawn tramway.
