Everyone is welcome to join us on the evening of Wednesday 22nd November for Montalto Estate’s Christmas tree light switch-on.

This free event is the start of the festive season at Montalto Estate which officially commences when the switch is flipped, and the lights begin to sparkle. Enjoy Christmas carols from Spa Primary School, the musical tones of the Ballylone Concert Flute Band, special guest DJ Magiggs and maybe even a visit by Santa Claus himself.

The homely scents of Christmas can be smelt through the event with our Café offering hot chocolate, mulled wine and freshly baked mince pices. Plan a visit to our Shop and Christmas Shop to pick up perfect gifts as you prepare for the festive season.

THE TRUTH ABOUT ANTRIM'S GIANT'S CAUSEWAY!

There's a so-called scientific account of how the 40,000 interlocking hexagonal basalt columns that make up the Giant's Causeway formed 60 million years ago. Something about a volcanic eruption during the Paleocene Epoch, blah, blah, blah. Total nonsense. Sure the clue's in the name, duh!

It was built as a bridge between Ulster and Scotland by the giant Ulster warrior Finn McCool. His intention was to walk across to Scotland to slay his enemy, a Scottish giant by the name of Bernandonner. Finn worked so hard building the bridge that he decided to rest before crossing to Scotland but, while he was sleeping, Bernandonner came across the new causeway in search of him. When Finns wife Oonaugh saw the immense size of Bernandonner she was afraid he'd overpower her husband, so she quickly wrapped up Finn and pretended to cradle him, as if he was her baby. When the giant Scotsman saw the enormous baby, he thought the father must be a much bigger giant than himself, so he turned on his heel and high-tailed it all the way back to Scotland, tearing up the causeway as he went to prevent Finn McCool from following him.

And don't let anyone tell you different! 😁
