A Sleepless Night 💤

Despite the twenty mattresses, she could not forget the single pea causing her discomfort. It kept her awake throughout the night. She barely noticed the luxury of her surroundings. The Princess and the Pea fairy tale reminds us that even the smallest things can steal our attention. 🫛

In our world of social media, pictures, and email, it sometimes feels as though we are being bombarded with peas. They try to demand our attention and tempt us to compare our lives to others. When we build a wish list based on what others have or who they are, it leads to discontent. We feel stuck in our own lives, longing to live the life of another. 📱

Comparison leads to discontent and neglect. We squander our time and gifts by treating them with disdain. But Jesus came to free us from the poison of jealousy and covetousness. As we release our concerns and worries to Christ, we become open to receiving His gifts. 🎁

Gratitude can fortify our souls and root us in the reality of what we have in Him. What will you thank Him for today?

Inseparable

As Adam and Eve looked back to the Garden of Eden, their physical removal from the Garden was a visual reminder of their break in their relationship with God. Despite their dismal circumstances, God had a different ending in mind. He did not forsake His creation. 🍃

God’s continued affection for us is revealed through His presence. He heard Jonah’s prayer from the belly of the fish.
He sustained David as he waited to become king while being ruthlessly pursued by King Saul. And He positioned Queen Esther to save His people from annihilation. 👑

The God of the Garden became the God of Gethsemane, sacrificing everything for our salvation. Jesus does not run or recoil from our weakness, pain, or brokenness. He took our sin upon Himself and beckons us to come to Him. Even in the midst of our darkest days, God is with us. Nothing can separate us from Him and His love. We are inseparable! ❤️

God of the Impossible ✨

The word impossible occurs nine times in the New King James Version of the Bible, and most of the references tell us that this word doesn’t appear in God’s regular vocabulary. 🌎

• Matthew 17:20: “Nothing will be impossible.”
• Matthew 19:26: “With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”
• Mark 10:27: “With men it is impossible, but not with God.”
• Luke 1:37: “With God nothing will be impossible.”
• Luke 18:27: “The things which are impossible with men are possible with God.”

Hebrews 6:18 tells us it is impossible for God to lie, and Hebrews 11:6 adds that without faith it is impossible for us to please Him. It demonstrates how important it is to cast our impossibilities in God’s hands. Just as He parted the sea for Israel, reversed the events in Esther, raised Jesus from the dead, and converted Saul of Tarsus, God is capable of reversing our irreversible problems. ❤️

A Fragrant Scent 🌷

Have you heard about the man who smelled good no matter where he was or what he was doing? His skin and clothing and very being seemed to exude a pleasant fragrance. 🌹

He worked in a perfume factory and breathed its aromas every day. They filtered into his clothing, penetrated his skin, and even filled his lungs. He became a walking perfumery.

That’s the way we should be as Christians. The Bible says, “For we are to God the fragrance of Christ among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing” (2 Corinthians
2:15). We exude the aroma of joy, for in His presence is fullness of joy (Psalm 16:11).

You might have heard that “Jesus wept” (John 11:35) is the shortest verse in the Bible, but that’s only true in the English translation. In the original New Testament Greek, 1 Thessalonians 5:16 is shorter-“Rejoice always.” The two verses are related. Because Jesus wept, we can rejoice. He doesn’t want us to live in perpetual discouragement, sadness, or doubt.☀️

The joy of the Lord is the strength of our days (Nehemiah 8:10). We have a reason to rejoice. 🙌

Precious Moments 🌾

Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth! 🌍

About 31.5 percent of the earth’s population are categorised as “Christian” based on culture or family tradition, church attendance, or self-identification.

But there is no way to know exactly how many of those people believe Jesus Christ is God in the flesh who came to earth with the authority to remove man’s sins. 🖤

Many people in the world today believe Jesus was a good man, a wise teacher sent from God- but not that He was God. 🏔️

Not only is He God, but He is the God who knows exactly what we need in our weakest moments.

When King David felt alone and discouraged, the Lord said to him, “Be still, and know that I am God” (Psalm 46:10). When facing a trial, it is easy to feel alone and downcast. 🍃

But in those dark moments, if we pause and turn our thoughts away from our problem and on the Lord, His calming presence will bring assurance that we are not alone. With that confidence, our deepest doubts and fears fade away. ✨

Moments of solitude with God are to be treasured, not neglected. Regardless of whether or not you feel comfortable “being still,” purposely make plans to spend time with the Lord in prayer. They are precious moments.💎

Light Switch:💡

In the beginning, the world was dark and void until God’s words flipped a switch and there was light.

While it may be hard to imagine a world without light, we have experienced other types of darkness: discouragement, disappointment, and sorrow to name a few.

Trusting God in the darkness is difficult. We pray for Him to instantly change our circumstances; and while He sometimes does, we often find ourselves waiting for Him in a hard place.

Paul was familiar with waiting and challenges. In 2 Corinthians 4:7-15, Paul describes being persecuted and stuck down.

Instead of requiring God to intervene with a bright light from heaven, which he had experienced before on the road to Damascus, Paul patiently relied on God to sustain him.

Although unseen, God’s goodness, presence, and strength were at work. Paul knew that having God in his life was enough. ✨

God was all the light he needed. 🤍

Cracked Pots 🫖

Everyone knows what it’s like to be disappointed by someone we love or admire. Our husbands, wives, children, or parents sometimes let us down. Our heroes stumble. Our leaders falter.
It can devastate us and damage our relationships, because we place high expectations on those we love. Sometimes we forget they are broken people just like we are. 😞

According to 2 Corinthians 4:7, we are all earthen vessels, jugs of clay, easily chipped. The Voice translates 2 Corinthians 4:7 like this: “But this beautiful treasure (the Gospel) is contained in us—cracked pots made of earth and clay-so that the transcendent character of this power will be clearly seen as coming from God and not from us.” 📖

God blesses us cracked pots in spite of our sinful, undeserving nature; and high on His list of blessings is forgiveness. As we look to Him alone, He gives us grace (He imparts a million blessings we don’t deserve) and mercy (He withholds a million judgments we do deserve).

If He gives grace and mercy to cracked pots like us, perhaps we need to extend the same to those we love. ❤️

A SUMMARY OF THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN UK, ENGLAND, GREAT BRITAIN.
For all our US family and friends

Some people and indeed all over the world, including well travelled, often confuse England, United Kingdom and Great Britain.

England is a country just like Ghana and its capital is London just like Accra is the capital of Ghana.

Great Britain is a collection of 3 countries which came together as one country and has its capital as London. Those 3 countries are:

1. England,
2. Scotland
3. Wales.

When you include Northern Ireland to these 3 countries, they become United Kingdom (Union of four nations)

1. England,
2. Scotland,
3. Wales, and
4. Northern Ireland.

That is why it is referred to as the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

Collectively, the four are taken as one country. And when this is the case, London is its capital.

Note however that these four individual nations all have their own respective capitals.

Accordingly, the capital of

Scotland is Edinburgh,
Wales is Cardiff;
Northern Ireland is Belfast.
England is London.

Our Guide Through Life:⛵️

The next time you are near a lake or seashore, spend some time observing the movements of sailboats on the water. Though some larger sailboats have small motors to use in case of an emergency, for normal use they are totally dependent on the wind. their pilots can change the direction of the boat to a degree, but it is the wind that is in charge. 💨

Sailboats existed for thousands of years before the apostle Peter's day; as a fisherman, he knew the value and power of the wind. So when he wrote about how God inspired the Old Testament prophets to write their books, he used an image akin to sailing: "men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit" (2 Peter 1:21).

Just as the wind carries along a sailboat, so the Holy Spirit was the power and source behind the writers of scripture 2 Timothy 3:16. But the same image applies to our daily life as Christians.

When we are filled with and yielded to the Spirit, He is the power who silently guides us through life. Yes, our hand is on the rudder, but it is the wind of the Spirit that fills our sail. Trust Him to guide and empower you.🛟
