SOUND ON! Lipsmaking lunch for the piggy wiggies π·
Very busy with two quick changeovers today so rather excited to see a double header steam train go past so we could have 5 minutes break! π€£
Saphos Railtours sent this beauty to Plymouth and back from Shrewsbury today. We even got a whistle from the driver! I think it was the LNER 61306 Mayflower built in 1948. We do love a steam train π!
This is the first of regular steam trains passing us through the season. We are extremely lucky to get a front row view! Looking forward to the return journey this evening. π

I have found dates when we have steam trains trundling past in full view of Pod guests. I cannot guarantee they will run as I have no control over the timetabling of the tours, but for now the dates for the Royal Duchy tours are as follows;
Sunday 5th May
Sunday 28th July
Sunday 18th Aug
Sunday 1st September
I will keep looking for more dates. There should be some in June too. I will know nearer the date what time the trains will approach Dainton Tunnel.
We often have guests celebrating birthdays or wedding anniversaries, but this weekend we provided the accommodation for a bride and groom and some of their close family. The wedding was held at Dainton Golf Club, a short drive away. We are privileged to be chosen for their stay here as newly weds and wish them every happiness for their future together. Congratulations Chloe and Aaron. ππΎπβ₯οΈ #glampinguk #devonlife #smallholding #devon #rurallife #glampingpods #honeymoondestination #weddingnight
And that's a wrap for lambing this year! First to lamb was Clemmie. She was our bottle fed lamb in 2021. She produced twins one of each. Then it was Corona (named after the virus which was rampant when she was born). She had twins, one of each. Barbara came in third. Barbara was our very first lamb we bred who arrived in April 2020. She produced two ram lambs. Last was Alice our first breeding lamb from Dunley Farm aka 'fluffy ' due to her fuzzy fleece. She had twins, one of each too. From the size of her we expected her to lamb first. She was like a small hovercraft when she lay down. π So far they are all doing OK and will be turned out into a field tomorrow. Happy days!
