We wanted to take this opportunity to introduce or reintroduce ourselves to everyone and to put a face behind our business and working farm.
Linda and Richard took on the role of custodians of Stickwick back in the 1970’s when Richard inherited the farm and they went about restoring these historic buildings built in the 1780’s. Firstly, by converting the stable into the Cottage for holiday guests and then letting out rooms in the Manor to local students. As the money came in works were undertaken to stop the roof leaking/replace sash windows, and bring back the splendor of this Georgian Manor and interconnecting servants quarters (Farmhouse). As there was never enough money to rip out the interiors, the homes are full of original features, and furniture each generation has left before them. Making it a charming place where you too are part of its story.
So Stickwick Manor and Cottages has been welcoming guests from all over the country and world since 1970.
Linda loves to bake and is renowned for her coffee cake. Linda and Richard are stalwarts of village life and help run a number of community events such as the village fayre, and lunches for locals in the village hall.
I Alison (Linda and Richards’s daughter) have never known a life outside of hospitality, having been ‘born into it’. After a brief 10 years away working the food industry, I returned ‘home’ in 2008 with my new family, and to take my place in the circle of Stickwick life.
We all love to meet our guests and spend time chatting about local things to do, where to go and the country ways of life. Our guests ALWAYS remember our morning chats!!
Richard would not be without his garden or daily animal feeding routines where we can encourage youngsters to overcome fears develop skills in animal handling and feel a real achievement at the end of a session. Just like real life really….
