A walk we return to time and time again is the circular walk in Anagach Woods in Grantown on Spey. Using part of the Speyside Way this lovely varied walk is a circular route through woodland and returning along the River Spey. Beautiful at any time of the year. Take a picnic and sit and watch the wildlife along the River.

A New Year's Day walk around a bit of the Wildcat Trail to clear the head after the night before and met an ardent follower of the Orange Paint Pot who has even clothed himself in orange!

The best thing about having time and space on your holiday is to have breakfast at a time that suits or be able to shop for local fresh produce and enjoy a great home cooked meal. Visit the farmshop at is a great option too.

The Wild Flour cafe one of our favourite cafe stops is open for steaming hot chocolate, yummy mince pies and well deserved cake. Great for lunch and a friendly smile

Newtonmore has a lovely little walk around Loch Imrich accessed from Golf Course Road. Just opposite the Tennis Club you will find one of the gates leading into Loch Imrich. The path circles the loch and the a quiet and peaceful corner is quite a surprise in the centre of village. Ideal for watching the local wildfowl population and sitting for a while. In the past the little loch was used as a winter curling rink when the weather was cold enough for the water to freeze.

The loch is a kettle-hole formed by glacial action and fed mainly by rain and winter snow melt . There are several seats placed round the loch for relaxation and contemplation and admiring the view .com
