We have introduced Alexa into our accessible bedroom at Doddie Weir House. As you can see from the video she is very obliging and does exactly as Colin asks, which isn’t something he is used to from the other women in his life 😂.

We have just released a fresh new batch of dates in 2023 where you can get a half-price holiday at our fully accessible self-catering cottage Denis Duncan House.
Thanks to a generous grant, Leuchie House charity are able to offer 50% grant funding on holidays for selected weeks in 2023 at the beautiful cottage in Dirleton, which sleeps up to 6 people (2 with accessible beds)..
There are no hidden catches, and we really want people to take advantage of this great offer, subject to a simple application process. If for any reason you do not meet the simple criteria for funding your deposit will be returned in full.
As well as the dates we had already announced we can now add the whole month of March.
The holidays (with 50% grant funding applied) will cost you a total of only:

How it works:

Among the big ambitions we have at Leuchie House is the desire to do more for more people, beyond the walls of the House.
When the charity was gifted Denis Duncan House -Accessible Holiday Cottage near Dirleton, it gave us a golden opportunity to offer groups and families of up to 6 an independent, self-catering break in a property fully equipped to cater for someone living with a disability or long term condition.
The guests who have stayed there since we took on the cottage in April have absolutely loved the experience, and the good news is that we have now opened up for bookings in 2023! 🙌

Denis Duncan House is a 🐾 dog-friendly, fully accessible holiday cottage situated in the lovely conservation village of Dirleton which nestles on the Firth of Forth, between the Scottish capital of Edinburgh and the pretty coastal town of North Berwick.
The cottage sleeps six people in total, two with fully accessible beds. It is very spacious and has plenty of room for people with disabilities and their families or carers to spend quality time together.
The fully accessible suite is extremely well equipped with two profiling beds, and an overhead hoist to the en-suite bathroom. The bathroom has a height adjustable wash basin and Clos-o-Mat toilet, a hi-lo bath, and a full size wheel-in shower.
A large kitchen has everything you need to feel comfortable and at home. Upstairs there are two twin bedded rooms, a bathroom, and second sitting room for the family or carers.
The generous main sitting room leads into a comfortable conservatory from which you can see the local wildlife – deer, pheasant, squirrels, garden birds, and even the occasional hedgehog. The attractive garden backs on to the famous Archerfield estate and golf course.
Denis Duncan House overlooks one of the village greens and is also in sight of the famous ruined medieval castle. Nearby you can visit the coastal town of North Berwick which has a beach and seabird centre, as well as shops, restaurants, and pubs.
Denis Duncan House is owned by the fantastic Leuchie House, a national respite charity who provide short, respite breaks for those living with neurological conditions such as MS, MND, Parkinson's & stroke.
