133 years ago today, a brave girl called Catherine Watson saved a drowning boy, but lost her life. Catherine's fellow students at Glasgow School of Art created this memorial in her loving memory. The inscription reads: 'Erected by public subscription in the memory of Catherine Watson, aged 19, who was drowned in the East Bay 27th July 1889 while rescuing a drowning boy. The child was saved. The brave girl was taken'. May you rest in peace, Catherine!
