Bumphead parrotfish, otherwise known as 'bumpies' are one of the weirdest looking fish on the planet but one of the coolest to land on a fly. If you are keen to try your hand at something a bit different then Peter's article on the secrets to fishing for these 'bison of the flats' is well worth a read.

Of all the species that fly fishermen target on the flats I think the bumphead parrotfish might just be weirdest looking thing on the planet.

The season on the Rio Grande and Rio Gallegos is well and truly underway and it has been a strong start to the season with fish starting to spread throughout both systems. Prospects for the weeks ahead look encouraging with the average size of fish caught being slightly larger than normal.
