Northampton & District Indoor Bowls

A week today will see the start of the preparations for the Men’s Under 25 BIIBC International Series commence. Did you know the Mayor and Mayoress will be joining us for the opening ceremony and the opening ceremony will include 5 mascots which have all been provided by our own junior section. We’re still after some volunteers please for scoreboard monitors (putting the scores up for each end as advised by the players) and entry desk (taking payments for entry and programmes and helping people put on wristbands) personnel, amongst other jobs. Please look out for the list on the window of the Well Being office. It’s a great honour and a privilege for the club to host such an event, for this major international event. Thank you to all volunteers, it couldn’t be be done without your help. For the physical volunteers next Friday, the movement of furniture, chairs, etc. Will commence at 18:30.

Special thanks to Linda Warren, Tony Warren, Janet Swift, Mick Swift & Marian O’Looney for hosting another very successful Open Day for the bowls club. Thanks to all others who also came along and helped out, it is very much appreciated. Most rinks were constantly used for the full duration. We look forward to welcoming some new prospective members to the coaching sessions.

Hoddesdon BC (Rosehill) in Hertfordshire held an end-of-season Bowlathon, where members played up to 100 ends of bowls to raise funds for the Broxbourne Organisation for the Disabled, raising a fantastic £4,532. Well done to all who participated in this incredible effort!

Skills Night
We hope you will all join us for a “SKILLS NIGHT“ that is being run on Friday 31st January, Linda and Tony Warren, Janet and Mick Swift will be hosting the night they will be setting up a different bowling skill on each rink, we have placed a skills sheet on the wall for members to place their names on if they would like to attend in order to give us an idea of the number of people we can expect but all are welcome so please join us for this SKILLS evening.
£3 for the night
Skills start at 7pm
We will still have the usual raffle around 9.15pm
Please come and join in and test your skills.

As the match has been cancelled for this afternoon at such short notice, there is plenty of rink space available if anyone wishes to come along for a roll up between 2pm and 5.45pm.
The bar is closed but the drink and snack station is open and operating in their absence. The bar will be back open as normal from 6.30pm.
