B Corp related charity days are a key part of our commitment to supporting environmental initiatives.

Our colleagues Charlie and Paula spent a sunny day at Conwy Bay helping with The Wild Oysters Project who are aiming to restore Britain’s seas to health through the restoration of the native oyster.

Oyster reefs clean our coastal waters and create an important habitat for other marine animals. Populations across Europe have declined by 95% since the 1800s so it’s important to monitor these numbers and help them to populate.

During their visit, Charlie and Paula took part in biodiversity net surveys to document mobile marine species, conducted photo surveys of oysters to monitor sessile organisms, and assessed oyster health.

Paula, Customer Service Executive, described the experience as a " worthwhile and interesting experience in the company of passionate marine biologist students”.

Charlie, Senior Product Manager, shared: "A really interesting day with The Wild Oysters Project to get involved in how the project is managed now as well as learning about their plans for the future".

“A thoroughly enjoyable walk around most of this unspoilt island. Challenging at times, but well worth the effort. 66 miles in total and an altitude gain of an impressive 16,396ft”

El Hierro is the least known and most westerly of the Canary Islands, offering a variety of landscapes formed by volcanic activity.

Walks on this unspoiled island offer superb views and significant cultural sites, such as the Sacred Tree—El Arbol Santo, the abandoned village of La Albarrada, and the twisted Junipers at the farthest western point of the ‘old world’.

Originally from Northern Italy, Sharon has been part of the Headwater team for just over a year and has already made her mark. We asked Sharon what she loves most about her role:

A seasoned traveller, Sharon always packs light with just a backpack and a book in hand, often delving into East Asian translated literature. With her knowledge of Japan and passion for its culture, Sharon has become our resident expert – which is her favourite country to visit.

5 MUST SEE places in Lanzarote!⬇️ 1) Caldera Blanca - the Caldera Blanca route crosses ample volcanic badlands on a lava surface which resulted from the eruptions between 1730 and 1736. Its two central elements, Caldereta and Caldera Blanca, originate from two cones which were caused by previous volcanic eruptions. Caldera Blanca is one of the highest peaks in this volcanic range in the centre of the island. 2) Montana Tinamala - Montaña Tinamala is a horseshoe-shaped volcano that overlooks the villages of Guatiza and the coastal hamlet of Los Cocoteros. 3) These ancient mountain ranges were once the seat of aborginal tribes and provide a perfect vantage point from which to see the islands of Fuerteventura and Lobos, as well as the Papagayo National Park, located in the south of the island. 4) Jardin de Cactus - a botanical paradise created by the Canarian artist to help preserve the islands rich biodiversity. 5) La Graciosa Island - This island is for special travellers, those who are sensitive enough to enjoy its nature, silence, beauty, and of course the sun and the secluded beaches.
