Stepping Stones Norwich A vibrant charity for adults with learning disabilities in Norwich. We’re big on photography and video too, with our own mini TV channel, Stepping Stones TV.

Stepping Stones is a small, vibrant charity for adults with learning disabilities in Norwich. Our vision is for a fairer, more equitable society where adults with learning disabilities receive the education, training and support they require to fulfill their potential. Our mission is to increase our students’ knowledge and confidence, encouraging them to lead more independent and fulfilling lives

within their community. Working in a person centred way, we build life skills through our main subject areas - art & enterprise, cooking, creative media, supported employment, health and fitness and horticulture. We love to make food together, cooking with the fresh fruit and veg we grow at our allotment which is a short walk away from the main centre. We produce all kinds of arts and crafts designed and made by our students, these products are then sold as part of our enterprise project. We really enjoy meeting people and we like finding ways to meet new people, share experiences and create chances for people to learn from each other.

It was great to welcome the Sheriff of Norwich, Sirajul Islam, Norwich City Council to Stepping Stones this week to meet the students and to see the variety and creativity that happens each day.

We have had an exciting new arrival at Stepping Stones HQ - a Mini Giraffe aka, Mini G.

Students and tutors are working on giving the Mini G a vibrant new look to be displayed on the trail in the summer, in aid of .

We will be sharing many more Mini G updates soon and letting you know where you can find the soon to be named mini G in the city on the trail...

Our Art Exhibition has started!
Anteros Art Foundation, 11 – 15 Fye Bridge St, Norwich, NR3 1LJ. Opening Hours are Tuesday to Saturday 10:00 – 17:00, Sunday 10:00 – 15:00.

The majority of students have had an opportunity to contribute to different elements of the exhibition and project and they would be very pleased and proud to share what they have achieved with you all so please do come along.

We are also running creative workshops all week.

Wednesday 29th January
All day – Communal Mixed Media Hanging
Make a mark on a large piece of calico which will be exhibited towards the end of our week at Anteros.

Thursday 30th January
10:30 – 14:00 – Card making with Lily
You are invited to make a collage, using our student’s famous sgraffito papers (hand painted and decorated papers) to create a visually vibrant card.
£1.00 per person to join
All day – Communal Mixed Media Hanging
Make a mark on a large piece of calico which will be exhibited towards the end of our week at Anteros.

Friday 31st January & Saturday 1st February
10:30 – 14:00 - “Collage bag making textile session –
Visitors will be using sari silks to make their own hand stitched patchwork bags”.

Our exhibition is starting tomorrow!
It will be a weeklong event and a chance to showcase the amazing, creative talents of the students and an opportunity for them to build on their existing skills and strengthen their confidence with engaging with the public.

Students will also be running creative Workshops:
Tuesday 28th January
10:30 – 14:00 – Paint and stitch – with Shathy
Visitors are encouraged to create an artwork using some of our students’ drawings as a starting point.

Our Inspiring Carpet Art Exhibition opens on Tuesday .
Artwork will be available to see during the opening hours of 10:00 – 17:00 as well as purchasing Enterprise products. We will also be running creative workshops daily between 10:30 and 14:00. Visitors will be invited to co-create communal mixed media hanging.
Students will be present between 10.30 – 2pm to talk about their work, what we do at Stepping Stones and sell our Enterprise products.

We are excited to announce that Stepping Stones will be exhibiting student’s artwork at Anteros Arts Foundation from Tuesday 28th January until Sunday 2nd February 2025. We are looking forward to showcasing the amazing, creative talents of our students.

We will also be hosting some workshops on various days throughout the week & we will be having a new range of products for sale - more details and timings to follow, but for now, please add those dates to your diary and plan a visit!

It is starting to feel very festive at Stepping Stones 🎄⛄️🥳

This year has been a really special one for the charity and we would like to say a massive thank you to our excellent tutors, volunteers, students, parents/carers, trustees and many, many friends who have helped 2024 be transformative for the students and service - we are really fortunate to have such a dedicated, hard working and fun support network. 👏🙌

This week we are busy baking and packaging our products for our event . It is this Saturday 23rd November from 11am-3pm. Come see what we have made, have a cake or a vegetarian roll, make some cards, try musical instruments. All profits going to Stepping Stones Project!

We are excited to share that we are holding our second festive event 'Steps into Christmas' at the Norwich Arts Centre on Saturday 23rd November - 11AM - 3PM.

We will be selling some of our newest festive enterprise products, calendars (featuring the lovely artwork on this poster), cards, notebooks, chutneys, jams, t-shirts, tote bags etc - and plenty of our delicious Stepping Stones cakes for sale!

We will be hosting a festive card making workshop, a gingerbread decorating table and a Christmas tree planting area.

Our friends at Musical Keys will be providing some music based activities and have some items for sale too.

We will hopefully see you there for some festive cheer!

Well done to our student who has volunteered to help at the Original Norwich Charity Christmas Card Shop.
The shop is open Monday-Saturday 10.45am - 3pm until 14th December at St Peter Mancroft Church.
🧐Look out for the Stepping Stones Cards! Our new designs are there as well as our classic Reindeers and Robins. 😍

Students have been working on creating a colourful arch. Each student chose a flower to make into paper. The result is a stunning floral composition of all their work!

The Fancy Birds are back! We have been making some old favourites for our stall on the Haymarket next Thursday 23 Nov. We will be there from 10 till 3 with these lovelies plus lavendar bags, preserves, mini Christmas cakes, greeting cards, hanging plant holders, gift tags and decorated boxes. Come and say Hello

on yer bike! The rain didn't stop us trying out the bikes at Active Norfolk's Disability Sports Festival today. Very impressed.

You might recall that back in July we started doing our bit for RHS - Royal Horticultural Society Greening Grey Britain, with Alison Findlay from the RHS.
