It was a great day out in Matlock yesterday taking part in The Derby Mountain Rescue Teams very first Matlock Skyline Challenge! A beautilful 22 mile (or in may case 21.92 🙄) and around 3500ft of elavation (those hills were definitely hilling) circular route around Matlock and Darley Dale. We ran/walked/laughed our way through some of the prettiest villages, meadows and woodland and also bumped into a very windy horse!!

We finished off the day with some much needed chips before heading home with our finishers certificates! Who needs Medal Monday anyway! 😜

Since starting Running Escapes we have been lucky enough to meet some amazing women and It was so great to spend some time in the forest last week with and some of the wonderful fearless ladies for the annual We Are Fearless Rainbow Run.🌈 Kelly joined in the running completing 5 laps of the route whilst Jo, who was on a weekend break with the family, popped over to say hello with our favourite four legged friend! ❤

We’re beyond excited to be planning another Badass Mother Runners trip with Bev and her badass crew this October to Conwy. We couldn’t resist popping by on a recent trip to North Wales. It’s going to be a cracking weekend of hiking, scavenger hunts, chocolate tasting, easy running and lots of laughs!

With the We Are Fearless Adventure weekend just under 2 weeks away, we popped over to Llanberis to make sure all the final arrangements are in place.

After storm Kathleen, we’ve been assured by the locals that good weather is on order for the end of the month but we had a brilliant time navigating Llyn Padarn with its fairy woods and waterfall, in spite of the gales.

Plus the pooch loved her doggy-friendly accommodation at the YHA Snowdon Llanberis!

Whilst Jo has been getting in lots of hilly hikes in preparation for our Snowdon adventure, Kelly's training has been slighlty more on the flat side!
For the last few months come rain, wind or snow, she's been getting the running miles in and on Saturday took part in the Great British Seaside Ultra. 35.5miles along the east coast from Skegness through Ingoldmells, Chapel St Leonards, Sutton on Sea, Mablethorpe and back!
These photos might make it seem like the weather was glorious but the reality was more like running through a tornado!! 🌪🌪

It's not long now until we head off to Wales to climb Snowdon with the fantastic, We Are Fearless crew. With her training plan in full flow Jo didn't hesitate to pack her walking boots on a recent trip to Sunny Scotland. She got the miles in with a hike in Craigellachie National Park, Aviemore. And the climb definitely paid off with the most breathtaking views of the Cairngorms!

There was one not so nice view that she stumbled across, scroll to the final pic and see if you can guess what it is! Let's just say it wasn't the cutest of the local wildlife!

We had some slightly younger recruits at the weekend for their first trip up Mam Tor! Beautiful 6 mile route via Peveril Castle, Cave Dale, Mam Tor and returning to Castleton via the old road. They left me (Jo) for dust quite early on as you can probably, just about, see!

Definitely one of our favourite Derbyshire hikes! ⛰

Sunday long run with a difference!
Had a fantastic morning with at the .running winter run event. It’s a 6 hour event where you run as many, just over 5km laps of Sherwood Pines as you want. Our plan was 12 miles so 4 laps of fun done!
Thank you Eric and the rest of the team for putting on such a great event, it was my first but definitely won’t be my last 😁

**CHANGE OF DATE**
'Chaos at the Castle' will now be on Friday 6th - Sunday 8th October 2023.

Due to a number of factors our Badass Mother Runners 'Chaos at the Castle' weekend in Eyam has been postponed until later in the year. If you were booked onto the March event you should have received an email from us yesterday!

The weekend will now be taking place on Friday 6th - Sunday 8th October 2023. The cost of the weekend and all other inclusions will stay the same.

We know lots of you were dissapointed that you were unable to make the the original date so hopefully this new date will work for you. There'll be two different run options on the Saturday. Choose from a slow and steady 10km or if you want to push yourself a little further/faster join Al on his 15km route.

For more information and to book a place head over to the website www.runningescapesuk.co.uk a deposit of £50 will be required on booking with the remaining balance not due until August!

Wow what a weekend with Laura and her We Are Fearless crew, such a brilliant time had by all. The main event being a climb up Scafell Pike, England’s highest peak, expertly led by Sharon and Richie from Lakeland Mountain Guides. Here are some of the highlights from a stunning hike filled with laughter, utter exhilaration and the most glorious views!

This weekend Kelly is running the Manchester Marathon , Al the Rutland Spring Half marathon Rutland Marathon Events and we know a fair few people doing the London Landmarks Half Marathon.
