Our 4 star self catering holiday cottages are in the charming village of Edith Weston and just a short stroll to the South shore of Rutland Water
Puddle Cottage and Snowdrop Cottage are 4 star cottages, within walking distance of Rutland Water including Rutland Sailing Club and Rutland Water Fishing Lodge. Puddle Cottage welcomes up to two well behaved dog by prior arrangement for small charge of £20 to cover the additional cost of cleaning. We ask that the dog does not venture upstairs or onto the soft furnishings. Due to the wrap around garden not being secure at Snowdrop Cottage, unfortunately we are not able to welcome pets.

The grounds of Burghley House are open all year round and you can park for free - only 15 minutes drive from the cottages - and beautiful views.

A big thank you to the team at Digby Farm Christmas Trees who went above and beyond yesterday to help us find the perfectly sized, freshly cut Christmas trees for the cottages🎄
We are looking forward to welcoming our Christmas guests this weekend. We are fully booked for next Christmas already, but booking for December 2025 breaks now.

The dark skies over Rutland have been truly stunning the last few weeks. First the Northern Lights, and then the Comet and Hunter's Moon last night ✨
Comet C/2023 A3 (Tsuchinshan-ATLAS) over Normanton Church Rutland Water this evening. Not an easy target especially with the full moon, although the moon light does a nice job of lighting up the Church.

We are re-opening!
We are delighted to announce that our little County of Rutland has been placed in Tier 2 so we will be opening the cottage doors again next week!
We are able to welcome guests from Tier 1 and 2 from the same household.
Short breaks are available, so if you want a few days R&R by Rutland Water and cosy evenings by the log fire we would be delighted to welcome you.
Don't forget bookings include a large pile of logs, coal and kindling for the open fire, and every booking in December will be welcomed with a chilled bottle of champagne to celebrate coming out of lockdown (again!).

Puddle Cottage is a 4 star cottage, within walking distance of Rutland Water including Rutland Sailing Club and Rutland Water Fishing Lodge.
Puddle Cottage is a traditional, character stone cottage built in the 1800’s in the heart of Edith Weston, a popular Rutland village on the south shore of Rutland Water. With one large bedroom which can offer a super king sized bed, or two full size single beds, the cottage can sleep two comfortably. We are proud that the cottage holds a 4 star rating by the Quality in Tourism Board for self-catering accommodation, along with the ‘Walkers Welcome’ & ‘Cyclists Welcome’ awards.
The cottage is just a short walking distance to the shores of Rutland Water, the sailing club and walking distance to Rutland Water Fishing Lodge. Within 8 miles of Puddle Cottage also lie the market towns of Oakham, Stamford and Uppingham, making the cottage the ideal place to explore all that Rutland has to offer. Popular venues such as Normanton Church, Burghley House, Barnsdale Hall Hotel and Barnsdale Lodge as well as Rockingham Castle are nearby.
Puddle Cottage offers the traditional charm of a cottage, maintaining its original stone walls, exposed timberwork and open fire. Yet it offers all the modern facilities you would expect such as a recently renovated bathroom, gas central heating, refurbished breakfast kitchen with new appliances and a granite sink, and a large flat screen TV with Freeview and DVD player. WIFI is also available to our guests free of charge. We happily accommodate well behaved dogs and there are many fantastic walks locally. We want your stay to be as comfortable as possible, so we have filled Puddle Cottage with books and games which you can enjoy in front of the log fire in the winter or the cottage garden in the summer.
