Puddle Cottage and Snowdrop Cottage are 4 star cottages, within walking distance of Rutland Water including Rutland Sailing Club and Rutland Water Fishing Lodge. Puddle Cottage welcomes up to two well behaved dog by prior arrangement for small charge of £20 to cover the additional cost of cleaning. We ask that the dog does not venture upstairs or onto the soft furnishings. Due to the wrap around garden not being secure at Snowdrop Cottage, unfortunately we are not able to welcome pets.

Don't forget to look up!

The dark skies over Rutland have been truly stunning the last few weeks. First the Northern Lights, and then the Comet and Hunter's Moon last night ✨

Comet C/2023 A3 (Tsuchinshan-ATLAS) over Normanton Church Rutland Water this evening. Not an easy target especially with the full moon, although the moon light does a nice job of lighting up the Church.

Some lovely, free open dates coming up in Stamford in September, booking essential 😀

Make a note in your diary as we’ve got some exciting open days coming up that you won’t want to miss!

Each year the Lincolnshire Heritage Open Days provide an opportunity for the public to gain access to the county's hidden treasures, special places and iconic buildings for free.

Stamford Town Council is proud to be a part of the packed programme of events taking place during the 10-day heritage festival.

- Tours of our impressive Town Hall and Gaol are available on Friday September 6th and Friday September 13th. The Stamford Town Hall Treasures Tour will take place at 9:30am, 11:30am and 13:30pm. The Gaol Tour will have a session running at 10:30am, 12:30pm and 14:30pm (45 minutes long).

- Walking tours of Stamford Cemetery will take place on Saturday September 7th and Sunday September 8th. The tours are scheduled on the hour between 11am and 3pm.

Our Story

Puddle Cottage is a 4 star cottage, within walking distance of Rutland Water including Rutland Sailing Club and Rutland Water Fishing Lodge.

Puddle Cottage is a traditional, character stone cottage built in the 1800’s in the heart of Edith Weston, a popular Rutland village on the south shore of Rutland Water. With one large bedroom which can offer a super king sized bed, or two full size single beds, the cottage can sleep two comfortably. We are proud that the cottage holds a 4 star rating by the Quality in Tourism Board for self-catering accommodation, along with the ‘Walkers Welcome’ & ‘Cyclists Welcome’ awards.

The cottage is just a short walking distance to the shores of Rutland Water, the sailing club and walking distance to Rutland Water Fishing Lodge. Within 8 miles of Puddle Cottage also lie the market towns of Oakham, Stamford and Uppingham, making the cottage the ideal place to explore all that Rutland has to offer. Popular venues such as Normanton Church, Burghley House, Barnsdale Hall Hotel and Barnsdale Lodge as well as Rockingham Castle are nearby.

Puddle Cottage offers the traditional charm of a cottage, maintaining its original stone walls, exposed timberwork and open fire. Yet it offers all the modern facilities you would expect such as a recently renovated bathroom, gas central heating, refurbished breakfast kitchen with new appliances and a granite sink, and a large flat screen TV with Freeview and DVD player. WIFI is also available to our guests free of charge. We happily accommodate well behaved dogs and there are many fantastic walks locally. We want your stay to be as comfortable as possible, so we have filled Puddle Cottage with books and games which you can enjoy in front of the log fire in the winter or the cottage garden in the summer.
