Mum and kit from Sunday's trip out with John following an amazing time with Nikon School. My goodness did we get lucky with eagles while they were here!!

This was an amazing couple of hours watching Mum teach the young lad how to forage for crabs and catch eels and butterfish in the weeds.

This white tailed eagle was hunting in a loch in Morvern and we were lucky enough to watch it hunt for a while before it finally got itself a fish and headed up into the trees.

Fabulous day out in the wild yesterday with dozens of red deer with some rutting action still happening. Personal highlight was a fishing Osprey.

A full weekend of trips in some of the worst weather we've had in some time! Floods and terrible light made for challenging locations and tough photography conditions, but we managed to find some fantastic rutting action, otters hunting and mating, dippers, red squirrels, white tailed eagles, sparrowhawks, buzzards, mergansers and lots more.

We had a fantastic second day with Scotland with The Wee White Dug yesterday. I had a request for a Curlew, so choose a reliable spot on Mull and based the morning on that. We managed to find 4 otters including a really nice encounter with a female. Then a sneaky lunch at The Old Post Office, Lochbuie and then off to find some eagles. We managed a few Goldies before a lovely White tail fly by. A few shots taken at distance of the white tail. After lunch we hopped in the boat and found some seals, harbour porpoise and another close up white tail in the rain!

Had a fabulous day in the wild with Scotland with The Wee White Dug today. We started a very wet day with a few otter tips and then had one of the best Golden Eagle flypasts I've witnessed. Low over the car just ahead of us. Breathtaking. We then found some otters and spent a few hours watching a family making its way along a river. In total 5 otters today including this wonderful family. We then found a couple of groups of stags, they will come in the next post!

In the 1980’s Peter Dale became involved in a long-term project gaining 14 years’ experience of otters in the field, surveying for spraint signs, fresh water sources, couches and Hadds (or Holts), trapping the Otter, monitoring by the use of radio telemetry, spraint analysis using a radioactive isotope, trapping and assessing prey species, and he has retained a deep interest to this day.

We both love otters and this is our guide to finding, watching and trying to make sure they are not disturbed in the process. As always, the bird or the beast come first.

Welcome to Days in the wild. We are 2 Pete's (it makes it easier to remember our names) based in Lochaber who are passionate about getting you to see the amazing wildlife of our region.
