Local skipper Allan Strang invites you..... on a one hour journey starting from Oban's Railway Pier next to the train station. Last few days we seen a great black back seagull sitting on the seal rock, thought maybe it wasn’t well, it was today on our last trip we noticed fishing line wrapped round it, so we finished the trip and grabbed our dinghy, we went out and secured the seagull and it’s then we noticed it had swallowed a hook and the line was jammed between two rocks so he couldn’t move, we took him to the vet but sadly it was a large hook and he had sepsis, no creature deserves that die like that, we wish we had noticed sooner but at least he didn’t sit there until he starved to death stuck on the rock.. It was a real shame

For anyone wondering there was no seals on the island when we went ashore, first time we’ve ever had to do it.

Yesterday we where going through a channel between islands like we have thousands of times, this time was a bit different we got caught in some fishing gear that had been left floating to close to the surface, we had to radio the coast guard as we carrying 13 passengers onboard, we had two fish farm vessels assisting us while we tried to free ourselves, we decided it was best to put our passengers onto Oban sea tours who offered assistance as well, the lifeboat then arrived on scene and took us under tow to Kerrera marina where we had the boat lifted to check for damage and glad to say there was no damage, there was no way that we would have been able to free ourselves from the rope around the propeller.

We where ashore for 30 minutes and we had the hull cleaned as while we where at it, we where back carrying passengers by 2pm

many thanks to the boats that offered assistance and to the life boat crew!

Kerrera marina was a big help too! They went out their way help and lifted us out on a Sunday too! Thanks Tim and Gill

With the big tides happening we had an hour and half break, we managed to pull 6 shopping trollies out of the deeper water at the pier and pull them round the corner so they would be easier for someone to collect and take away, possibly the supermarkets should take responsibility since they own them?
we’d have brought them up but it wouldn’t be safe with the sharp rusting metal that’s on them to leave them anywhere🙁

Looks much better at the head of the burn(river) though!

Another lovely day, you can see an energetic Seal in the video “Porpoising” jumping, it must be happy to see the sun 😎

Lovely weather today and looks like it’s for the week! 😎

A wee adventure for us tonight, someone messaged us and told us they seen a penguin wandering about near their house, needless to say we grabbed a box and blanket, had a feeling it would be a Manx Sheerwater and that’s exactly what it was, He’s currently relaxing in a box in the dark in our bathroom.

Manx Sheerwaters can’t take off from flat ground all that well and when they end up in towns they are often run over or preyed upon by cats, this wee one has just fledged from his burrow, either the strong winds pushed him in land or he got confused by the bright lights of the town!
Needless to say he’ll comfy tonight and someone will hopefully pick him up in the morning, I will say they do indeed walk like penguins 😂

Meant to be heading for Argentina not Oban ❤️
