The first hydro scheme was built at Ardtornish in the late 19th Century. Its purpose was to provide power for a sawmill, machinery used to process feed for dairy cows and low voltage lighting for Ardtornish House.

Today, four hydro schemes fit into the wild landscape of Ardtornish at our main site, using every metre of head, from our high hills down to the sea.

Together the schemes produce ten times the amount of electricity used in Morvern every year. All that's needed is rain 🌧

This was our first winter trip - lovely and warm and cosy in the Boathouse with its big log fire. Bothies are one the greatest features of Scotland's wild places. Each has it's own story to tell.

More often then not, these historic farm or deerstalking buildings are in very remote locations and only accessible on foot.

Usually providing basic facilties for cooking, sleeping and drying out by the fire, Bothies offer shelter for travellers, adventurers and those who simply love lonely places.
