**Hijra Street ** also known as Shari'a al-Hijra in Makkah, Saudi Arabia, is one of the most significant roads in the city. The name Hijra refers to the migration of the Prophet Muhammad and his followers from Makkah to Medina in 622 CE, marking the beginning of the Islamic calendar. Over time, Hijra Street became an important thoroughfare in Makkah, linking various parts of the city, including the sacred Masjid al-Haram (the Grand Mosque).

Hijra Street holds immense cultural and religious significance, as it connects to the route that the Prophet Muhammad and his companions traveled during the Hijra (migration). This migration was a pivotal moment in Islamic history, as it helped establish the Muslim community in Medina, away from the persecution they faced in Makkah.

The street’s name is a reminder of this crucial event in Islamic history. However, much of the modern developments on the street have transformed its original historical appearance, with skyscrapers, shopping malls, and residential complexes having replaced much of the old infrastructure.
