Good evening all. The weekend is within touching distance! The best news is we are back to green after 10 days of what can only be described as complete chaos thanks to the snow and ice but I guess life would be boring without a few challenges 😂 Normality has resumed and the focus has now turned to new pillows (I know world problems!) but the fact is that we want our guests to feel as comfortable as possible so with the help of we have received a few samples to test out. It’s rather a personal preference when it comes to these things but hopefully we’ll make the right choice! If you want to give the new pillows a whirl do get in touch, the calendar is filling up for 2025 which is great for us but not for you if you haven’t got organised and booked yet 😉 I’ve shared a few photos from today to wet your appetite so get that diary out and pick a date!

Last night was simply beautiful! I’ve been moaning a bucketful about the snow, I mean it really has been around far too long but it makes for some fabulous photos! Our guests have arrived safely. and her family have stayed with us a few times before and are just so so lovely! They brought me beautiful flowers and a card for my birthday which is so kind of them 🥰 We love to welcome people back to the cottage and continue to meet some lovely people ❤️ I hope you all have a fabulous weekend ahead

Good evening all! I hope you are keeping safe and warm during this cold snap. It’s due to be -13 here tonight which is completely bonkers!! The snow really is beautiful but after 5 days of bucketing water out to all the animals I have to say I’m looking forward to it thawing out from Monday! I nipped the dogs out before it went dark this afternoon, you couldn’t see where we’d been the snow is so solid. Our guests arriving tomorrow are fully prepped on the current weather situation, Gabi and her family have stayed with us twice before. We are going to taxi them in from the local pub so they can avoid the side roads! We do try our best to take care of our guests and this weekend we will be on hand to ensure their comfort and safety. We were due to head off ourselves for my birthday this weekend but no one is crazy enough to want to house sit for us, another reason I’m done with the white stuff! Looks like a birthday in front of the log burner with a bottle of vino is on the cards!

Day two of shovelling snow for 7 hours! Thankfully we got it cleared before it started to freeze! I have a feeling that tomorrow is going to be even more traumatic though! We woke up to no electric this morning too which made things extra spicy 🤦🏼‍♀️😂 We managed to get out for supplies and our guests made it out too which is good news! Bri was busy clearing the roads above the cottage so it was up to me to clear the lane! In order to ensure I can actually walk tomorrow I’m sat in the hot tub hoping my muscles might actually relax 😂😂 I hope you all stay safe if you are travelling tomorrow. I’m heading inside when I dare brave the elements and get out of this tub!!!

Wow today has been full on!! We have been shovelling snow pretty much all day!!
Our guests were due to have a late check out tomorrow as they are celebrating a birthday, I have already warned them it might be later than they were expecting if the snow continues to fall! I guess it’s not a bad place to be stranded! The birthday girl Angela kindly made Bri and me a brew earlier, clearly we looked in need after all that shovelling 😂😂
In amongst the chaos we have taken three bookings for the cottage. We have plenty of availability in February and March but only one weekend in March, 2 mid-weeks in April, a mid-week and a weekend in May, a mid-week in June, 2 weeks in July and August is filling up too!! Be sure to get in touch if you would like to book! Fingers crossed the snow has gone in the morning. Stay safe!

Our guests left today and we are welcoming new guests tomorrow so it’s been all hands on deck after work tonight to get the changeover done! (I’ll make a cleaner out of Brian Gray yet!!) Luckily I have coming to help tomorrow too. I honestly could have got into this bed once I’d made it but resisted the temptation 😂 I loved planning the interior of the cottage, I wanted it to feel like home from home and from what our guests have said so far I think we’ve managed to achieve it ❤️

Happy New Year! 🌟 I hope you have all enjoyed a relaxing start to 2025. We headed out for a walk with the dogs earlier, so much standing water after a rather wild New Year’s Eve! The sun managed to make an appearance though which made a nice change! Sat by the fire now enjoying our last evening before work starts again tomorrow. I just wanted to take this opportunity to thank all our followers and customers, past, present and future for all your support. After 3 years we still enjoy sharing this beautiful part of the world with our guests and we are looking forward to meeting those who have booked to stay with us. Dora spotted the cottage this morning just not on a tv ad 😂 We had a lovely hack out to blow the cobwebs away. I’ve still not managed to sit down and watch the television to see the advert but must admit I’m trying to avoid Mr G who’s got the dreaded man flu! We have a changeover tomorrow so maybe Saturday is the day I locate the sofa!

We are racing towards the big day now and today is winter solstice so we are finally turning a corner and looking forward to those lighter days! The cottage is ready to welcome our Christmas guests. We have had a few big birthday celebrations in the cottage lately and have one over the festive season too! The cottage is perfect for those small intimate gatherings of families and friends to be together and make memories. I’ve been having a look back at some of our reviews from recent months and am so happy that everyone continues to enjoy their stay with us! I’ve shared a few for you to take a look at if you are deliberating whether or not to book your stay. I’ll be doing another reminder about this next week but whilst you are sat resting those tummies full of turkey and chocolate, don’t forget to look out for us on the television! I believe we will be betwixt the Christmas drama of Emmerdale on Boxing Day 😂

The cottage is going to be used on the cottages.com ad from Boxing Day through to the 13th of January on ITV and Channel 4 so make sure you look out for us!! We’ve had a fun morning here at Buryemwick! As soon as the snow arrives Bri has to build snowmen and go sledging! Not sure this snowman would manage to take off of it came alive, it’s not very aerodynamic 🤣🤣 Our guests aren’t heading out today so no lane clearing for us, instead they are enjoying the hot tub in the snow (I’m a bit jealous of them!), the log burners are roaring and the frying pan is on. Sounds like the perfect weekend! We still have availability before Christmas if you want to come and join us 🎄❄️🙌🏻

Well hello November!! October seems to have been and gone so fast this year and I can’t believe how warm it still is. The roses and a few other plants in the garden are either back in bud or flowering again, they seem very confused with it all. It’s been a beautiful day here in the Washburn Valley and we got treated to a rather stunning sunset as Bri and I walked the dogs this evening. Lots of outside jobs to do this weekend as we the cottage is empty. Leaf clearing seems to high up the list and that dreaded pressure washing needs doing too! Now you know why I’ve been trying to get it booked out 😂 I hope you all have a much more fun weekend planned than we do!

Pretty skies tonight! There’s been some radio silence over here just lately for various reasons. We took ourselves off to New England for a couple of weeks to re-charge the batteries. Not sure that worked as we packed rather a lot into our trip! We had so many people helping to keep things ticking over whilst we were away, we are very lucky to have them all. Back home and all of a sudden October is just about over! This year seems to have gone so quick. We still have next week/weekend still available and the weather is looking fabulous! Looks like the hot tub has our name on it unless someone fancies a last minute break! 🍁

Friday!!

What a beautiful start to Friday! I’m not a massive fan of Friday’s anymore as once I’ve finished work at lunchtime it’s a mad panic as it’s normally changeover day!! By 5 pm I’m normally in need of an extra large G&T and a lie down in a darkened room 😂 This week our guests are staying Monday to Monday so no changeover today, just a nice hack out on Dora with a friend. (Most likely will still need the G&T when I get back though 😂) We have a last minute break available in August, 19th to the 23rd so if you want to wake up to our fabulous view of Swinsty Reservoir and the Washburn Valley please get in touch as there’s a deal to be had!
