After WW2 this country could not feed itself and had to survive on rations. Subsidies were introduced to combat that deficit. Not only did it stabilise the food production but over time put quality food on your family’s table below the cost of production
Farmers have alway said it was never the farmers that benefited from the subsidies it was you as the consumer.
It will be the most vulnerable in our society that is going to pay the greatest price by not been able to consume a healthy balanced diet and left with a highly processed unhealthy low nutritional cheaper diet as their only option.
This pressure that the farming industry is already under producing affordable food for your family’s table has increased with the change in the tax.
Most family farms have been passed down through generations without the inheritance tax therefore allowing this model to work.
With this video we hope this provides an insight of the pressures it takes to provide food for our community and country.
