Apologies to the last guests who saw its construction but never got to use it, I underestimated how long it would take to complete...

Our cottage and farm gardens, and the farmyard itself is turning into a spectacular display of colour!
Flower pressing, setting them in resin and other creative things are definitely on the cards here as well as just enjoying them with a cuppa. 😊 x

One of my favourite, and popular add ons to your stay here are these : This absolute feast is an example of the range of hamper ingredients we can provide for guests - this one was for a larger family requiring halal too.
Our standard breakfast hamper for 4 is £35. This one was £45.
We can tailor for dietary or religious requirements and LOVE putting them together for when you arrive. 🥰

Further enhancements to our gaming barn is the arrival of the Wii!!! - yes not a new gaming concept, but one that anyone can join in with : Guitar hero, DJ hero, Wii sports resort (including bowling & archery etc), Wii music, Mario & LOADS of other games fir all ages. This is creating so much laughter & some great family time.
Oh, and the aurora sensory wall, already here, makes a great addition to the atmosphere. 😊

Superhost for the 8th year running now. 😊

And for the younger ones, there is a play table (plain on the other side) & our lovely old wooden train set now as an addition to our gaming barn. The grown ups can play darts, the little ones, trains. 😊

Abd talking of little ones, 12 little lawnmowers can be found in the cottage gardens currently, and they're really cuddly! X

So just in time for the next guests due in we have ducklings with proud mum, and 6 more goslings in the group...and here's me doing boring 'office' work indoors...(I love all my jobs really, don't be fooled). 😄

The goslings are doing really well now, and just in time for a visitor this morning, a female appeared with 6 newly hatched ones.

A few days ago we had a lovely guy Liam come here with a metal detector. In the very short time he was here, he found some amazing bits...but the most fascinating was this 1921 ha'penny coin, and then a George III farthing - we are still trying to identify the date, but it is somewhere between 1798 - 1806. 😃
Add to this the original farmyard being carefully dug out here along with what is possibly a Roman road /cobbled cart path right down the land but not on any maps, then this is how I wished history had been made alive when I was at school.
This is AWESOME!!! x

Managed to retrieve 8 (edit : 10 now counted in daylight) soaked through goslings abandoned on the top field in the dark and in torrential rain. Parents had gone indoors and left them then didnt want to know. 2 missing from the original 12 - I went back and checked photos. Missing goslings is never a good sign - and the crows and magpies have been around today. A lot. 😔 I've just got them settled now but will be bedlam here as we already retrieved 3 from a previous batch too.

So 13 goslings - the bonus? Our guests get to handle them and help with them. The downside? They're messy as hell.

What a difference a day makes! This little one yesterday was the one still shaped like its egg. Yolk, blood and mess all over. Not out of the woods yet at all but it is squeaking now and can lift its head. I've managed to get some liquid chick crumb in.
It needs a name. And not Ryan as suggested yesterday. 🤣

Gosling rescue this afternoon. Not quite what was planned but crows are vile and attack young, so before they get killed we've brought those at risk of being dive bombed in. The little one in the hat wasnt even out of the egg. It is now subject to sitting in my hat just under my chin whilst I warm it up - this hat has raised or revived so many over the years!...I'm secretly enjoying just sitting still for a time too...

One of the things we have done here for many years is work directly with, foster for, fundraise and support animal charities. Guests regularly interact with the cats here which really helps us socialise them better.

Here's an update on cat Lenny our most recent rescue intake. We're nearly a month in. I've learned quite a bit about his background through his behaviour. We think he was brought up in a flat by himself & clearly hadn't, or wasn't used to a lot of exercise - may explain his 7.5kg weight! . He's now far more agile after a few weeks of missing or misjudging depth and people playing with him. The 3 girls he lives with havent really batted an eyelid although there has been the obvious territory squabbles! He is deffo more dog than cat though as gets excited when people arrive - runs to the door & jumps about! Even wags his tail. He is hilarious.

He is my shadow here. Where I go, he goes...and that means having to sleep round him as he is 3 feet long spread out in the middle of the bed. 🤣

His eyes are 2 colours though if you look closely. Green AND blue. 🥰 xx

Considering we had snow at the beginning of the week, we've now had a weekend of summer feeling weather! The hot tubs are on. The solar lights are pretty. The animals are given access to grazing out front now...And the relaxation is much needed!
