An Oxford tradition
Every year on 1st May at 6am (except Covid), thousand gather at Magdalen bridge to hear the choristers of Magdalen College sing to welcome in Spring. My daughter joined the crowds this year after staying up all night to arrive just as dawn was breaking!

Today, whist walking The at Thames Path, I came across the JFK memorial at Runnymead. This area of land was gifted to America after the assassination of JFK. The 50 steps up to the memorial represent the 50 American states. The inscription reads ‘Let every nation know whether it wishes us well or ill, that we shall pay any price, bear any burden, meet any hardship, support any friend, or oppose any foe in order to assure the survival and success of liberty.’

Another 21k of The Thames Path completed ✔️
From Newbridge to Oxford (Binsey)
I loved approaching the dreaming spires from the waters edge!
Stopped at The Trout at Wolvercote for a swift half which was featured in The Morse episode; The Wolvercote Tongue and then passed the ruins of Godstow Abbey which was the home to Fair Rosamund, the mistress of Henry 2nd. Ending at Binsey where you would find the Treacle Well from Alice in Wonderland written by Lewis Carrol who spent most of his life in Oxford and wrote the stories for the ‘real Alice’. 😀

The past two days, Walking Tours of Oxford has been walking from the source of The River Thames near Cirencester along the path toward Oxford and then will be onwards to London. Two sections competed and 40k ✔️ England is so beautiful 🤩
