One of the reasons I love Cornwall is the light. The air is very clear and this makes the colours and effects very perceptible. Then the weather helps the drama of the image with dramatic cloud formations and lighting effects. It’s wonderful for artists and photographers. I’ve always thought that if I lived alone a city Cornwall would be perfect for a painting or photography holiday.

We have what we hope is good news for our guests. Our landlords are repurposing one of the buildings on the site for a bar and cafe. We have been promised it will be ready for 1st April. The laundry has been moved to a smaller room at the end of the building. I’ll post photos when I can get inside.
In the meantime the Venue across the road is available for drinks and meals. We recently discovered that they put on a ‘Games Friday’ with board games and chatter. I’m not sure if they’ll continue after Easter but I’ll ask. Somewhere to go if it’s wet.
I’ll keep you updated.

Hi everyone, sorry I dipped out yesterday and didn’t post as promised - I forgot the boiler man was due!
Next addition for comfort; we’ve replaced the single mattresses with brand new sprung ones. There will be toppers on them before they’re made up for your stay and sleep will be super soft.
David has finished painting the wallpaper. When he made the sofa bed, nearly 25 years ago would you believe, he hadn’t papered the walls so we had to paper where he couldn’t reach the last time we decorated. We have a really pretty surprise for you to finish the living area which I think is quite special. You’ll have to see when you stay. We do have a big debate going on though. Do we put the table in the alcove or the sofa bed?

Exciting day today!
Ordered the new door and window. We’ve returned to the sliding door format because of the issues with French or bifold. Both need restraints, which could be trip hazards, and both would be prone to slamming in high winds, a consideration because being at the top of the hill the winds come from every direction. So; a sliding door. This is a little unfortunate because wheelchair and baby buggy access may be restricted. Our current door doesn’t open wide enough but I’m hoping that new regulations require it. I can ask the surveyor when I see them.
The window will be a casement window with transom like the bedrooms. This will make ventilating the kitchen easier and stop the bothersome smoke alarm going off! I hope.

I have something of bad news - but good in the end. Bear with me. In order to improve the comfort of our little home in the west we have to stop taking bookings up to Easter weekend. We hope to reopen on the 17th April but I will keep you updated as to the progress. We have been shopping this week; new carpets a new sofa bed and mattresses. We hope that you will agree that the time is worth it.

Before and After.
I’m recovering the dining chairs as the covers have become brittle and damaged. Brand new wipe clean vinyl fabric to match the theme of the room; sea green.
We stripped out the old sofa yesterday and I’ll be posting new photos later in the week. There’s so much room!

Tomorrow is the first day of our new season but….we’re refurbishing the living room! With a new sofa bed, reupholstered dining chairs and a new carpet we’re giving it a fresh look with more comfort. The door and window will be replaced later in the season by a local firm. We’re also replacing the single bed mattresses with new ones.
So a new look with fresh bedding and furniture are being installed to make your stay even more comfortable.
Thank you to everyone who has visited this site. I’ll keep you updated as we achieve each goal.

Two new photos of the chalet for you. One is the dining area. This fold out table has six chairs, two on the side and two slotted underneath. The double bed, shown made up with linen and pillows, has a new topper that makes it quite soft so I hope that those who use it enjoy a good nights’ rest.

Hi everyone from soggy Cornwall. This must be one of the wettest springs on record but the winds soon dry things out and the plants are blooming. My plum tree is covered in blossom. We’ve finally finished decorating the chalet, upgraded the bunk beds to be big enough for adults and upgraded the cooker. Our haven is a well loved pied a terre for the facilities, beaches and eateries in the area. We can’t wait to welcome you to it.
