🎄✨ The 12 Days of Cowries Cornish Christmas! ✨🎄

🎶 On the ninth day of Christmas, my true love gave to me... Nine Stone Maidens! 🎶

Not far from Cowries, near St Columb Major, you’ll find the mystical Nine Maidens Stone Row, a stunning and rare ancient monument steeped in history and legend.

🪨 What makes it special?

These nine quartz-streaked slate stones, standing tall for over 4000 years, are thought to have ceremonial or celestial significance. Once known as Naw Voz (Nine Sisters), they are a breathtaking sight against Cornwall’s rugged landscape.

📜 The Legend

The Nine Maidens were said to be young girls turned to stone for dancing on a Sunday, a tale of divine displeasure echoed across Cornwall’s stone circles. To the north lies the “Fiddler,” a solitary stone believed to be their musician, also turned to stone for his part.

🌌 A Timeless Wonder

Whether you visit for the history, the legend, or the celestial mystery, the Nine Maidens stand as a testament to Cornwall’s rich heritage and its captivating folklore.

🎶 On the eighth day of Christmas, my true love gave to me... Eight Cream Teas! 🎶

Ah, the age-old question that divides cream tea lovers across the land… Do you go Cornish or Devon?

For the uninitiated, here’s the debate:

🍓 Cornwall – Jam first, then cream.
🧈 Devon – Cream first, then jam. Cream acts as the "butter," they say.

Her Majesty The Queen herself was confirmed as enjoying her cream tea the Cornish way, so who are we to argue? 👑

Where do you stand? Let us know in the comments!
