Part 3 of the favourite local dog walks is Rivers.

All of the locations featured are within a 20 min drive away from our beautiful holiday cottages on the Suffolk Coast.

1. Beccles - walk along the Waveney to the Gedldeston locks and get a black dog ferry back
2. Oulton Broad - walk from Oulton broad along the banks of the Waveney to the Carlton marshes nature reserve.
3. Blythburgh - walk along the banks of the Blyth estuary from Blythburgh to Walberswick
4. Bungay - walk along the banks of the river Waveney through the water meadows that surround this ancient market town.
5. North Cove - walk through North Cove nature reserve and long the banks of the river Waveney.
6. Walberswick - walk from Walberswick to Southwold along the banks of the Blyth esturay

Kessingland is the next village south of Pakefield and is a must-do walk during a stay in any of our holiday cottages.
Walking south along the shore (check tide times!), the beach opens up to a will expanse with extensive dunes and shingle banks with imposing sandy cliffs as a backdrop.
After Covehithe and Benacre, Kessingland is the best wild beach on the Suffolk coast and can be accessed from your door during your stay.

Southwold, some would say the crown on the Suffolk Coast.
Another of my go-to places, the ever-popular quintessential seaside town of Southwold is just 20 mins away.
There is so much to see and do. Wander around the quaint streets and take a stroll along the prom and the pier. Walk along the harbour and river Blyth and maybe catch the foot ferry over to Walberswick. You can also take a tour around the famous Adnams Brewery or the iconic Southwold lighthouse.

This medieval village is not only steeped in history it's set amongst stunning landscapes of heathland, woodland and wild beach.

2. Kessingland beach - walk south along the shore from Pakefield.
3. Lowestoft beach - walk north along the prom from Pakefield
4. Dunwich beach - just 20 mins away, a wild beach with a great tea room and lots of parking.
5. Southwold beach - just 15 mins away where you can walk from the pier to the harbour.
6. Beneacre and Covehithe - 15 mins away and probably the best wild beach in Suffolk.
