We love our traditional old orchards in West Gloucestershire - and it has been an Appletastic week. Restorative pruning of old trees to let the light and air in, sourced some lovely local organic apple juice from Ragmans Farm for our guests and enjoyed some cider at The Fountain Inn Trellech pie night. Cheers!

The warm wet weather has been great for fungi - I've just found 'devil's fingers', which erupt from a jelly egg. Honestly looks like an alien!! It is supposed to smell of rotting flesh and attracts flies - I didn't think it was too bad. Considered rare in the UK, I've submitted a record to the county environmental record centre.
