Vintage Adventure Tours

Vintage Adventure Tours The Peak District has a wide and varied range of spectacular landscapes to discover. It is the genuine article just as Ol’ Henry intended.

Sat high up in a 1929 vintage car, looking over the dry stone walls is the ideal way to travel, at the right pace, to get the very best from our carefully designed tours. The routes use the minimum of classified roads and will take you to places and along roads that you would never find. What better way to see the beautiful Peak District landscape than sitting high up in a vintage open topped car.

Along quiet country lanes, we will show you some of the classic views and places of interest in the wonderful National Park. We can also give you ideas for alternative ways of getting the best from this unique service – arrive in style, dress for the occasion or simply share or give a gift. You can’t book this service online but please call us to discuss your ideas or make a booking. The 1929 Model A Ford “Phaeton” (we call it a tourer in the UK) is the only vintage car in the UK licensed for Private Hire. It doesn’t have many of the modern comforts that our current cars have – like a radio, heater (we do carry rugs), locking doors, electric windows or air bags to name a few. The car is examined at the workshops of Derbyshire Dales District Council every 6 months as a licensed vehicle and it meets all current regulations – for a car of this age – (and exceeds some). However it does not have seatbelts and we therefore recommend that it is not suited for children under 12 years old. It is also quite a step up onto the running board to get in – but we can provide a step to help. Your driver Steven has owned and run a wide variety of similar cars from the 1920’s and 1930’s for over forty years. He currently owns a number of other vintage (pre 1930). He has driven for many weddings as well as competitively in sprints and hill climbs. He still holds the shortest time record from John O’Groats to Lands End in an Austin Seven and still owns two of them. But these are just too small to use for Private Hire. They’re also rather slow and the brakes aren’t too good! Steven selected the vintage Model A Ford specifically for Vintage Adventure Tours as it comfortably seats five (including the driver), it is strong, durable and powerful with a 3.3 litre engine. It also has excellent brakes – essential on the Peak District hills. There are many thousands of these cars in the United States so spare parts are readily available. We operate throughout the summer months from April (earlier if the weather is good) to October on most afternoons. Call us for a chat – 07886 021082.
