We welcome walkers at Ballacallin Court! If you’re looking for walking holidays, the Isle of Man is a great place to visit. Rugged cliffs, rolling hills, picturesque glens, hidden coves and panoramic views. These are just a few of the reasons why the Isle of Man is a walker’s delight. Whether you enjoy a gentle stroll or a challenging hike, there’s a range of footpaths and trails to choose.

There are downloadable self-guided trails or family walks, or book a knowledgeable guide, many of whom have a passion for the outdoors and Mountain Leader qualifications, ensuring you see the best of the Island on foot.

Would you like to walk around the coast of an entire nation? Follow the Way of the Gull on the Raad Ny Foillan coastal footpath – a challenging 100 mile hike. The views and wildlife spotting opportunities are so incredible that you may prefer to break it into our 12 manageable sections built for experienced walkers. Many shorter looped walks and Railway rambles take in parts of the coastal footpath for those who just want a taste.

Walking is a popular pastime on the Isle of Man offering up some of the most beautiful scenery in the British Isles. Aside from challenging hikes, you’ll find hidden coves accessible via fern-filled glens, heather and gorse covered peaks and stretching sandy beaches that provide a feeling of space and tranquillity. If you pass the towns or take a town heritage walk you’ll are full to the brim with interesting stories and historic attractions to explore. Walkers may also stumble upon the remains of the rich Celtic and Viking heritage in the wild landscape.

Plan a stop off at one of our Walking Friendly eatery’s for a bite to eat after a full day of walking to hang up those muddy boots, rest and restore in one of our walker friendly places to stay. Find out more information on Visit Isle of Man

The beginning of hazy, long sunny days bring the Island to life. June to August is a hive of racing and cultural events, including our national day of Tynwald in July, which celebrates everything that makes our Island unique. This July also marks 40th anniversary Yn Chruinnaght or Celtic Gathering in its modern form – the Island’s top Celtic festival.

Why not spend a summer’s day exploring the Island’s emerald seas and rocky coastlines on foot or dive under the waves. We have over 30 beaches to explore, laze on or picnic – feel free to ask us about own recommendations.

Our website manager, Chris Littler, has just completed a new project that compares all the shops in our nearest town, Peel, like for like with ten years ago. It's of interest for a spot of reminiscing if you're a regular visitor to the Island, but it's also a showcase for some of the new businesses in town, many of them of interest to holidaymakers. There's been a big boost in leisure and hobby industries over the last ten years and there's plenty of new eateries to try.

Check out all the business photo comparisons to see what's new and what's gone! www.manxshopfronts.com
