Change is afoot in our Horizons Scotland office. It has been 31 years since Yves Lemarchand founded and grew Experience Scotland. With more demands on his time since becoming a grandpa last year, he will transition to a consultancy-based role as Independent Consultant Global Sports Strategies, helping to further develop our sports department. Today is Beltane day in Scotland.

It’s a pagan fire festival that goes back to pre-Christian times - originating with Baal in Phoenicia. It was supposed to encourage the crops to grow. There has been a holiday at the start of May in many parts of Scotland for centuries. Young girls would also rise early to wash their faces in the May dew. The custom of lighting fires at this time has come through in place names such as Tarbolton in Ayrshire ("tor" meaning hill and & "bolton" from "Beltane". The ancient Druidic Fire Festival has been revived by "New Age" followers who gather on the historic Calton Hill in Edinburgh.

Today marks the celebration of Robert Burns, Scotland's beloved poet and national treasure.
Tonight, Burn's night will be celebrated all over the country.
For many, the highlight of the evening comes with the arrival of the Haggis, neeps and tatties.
And no celebration would be worth without a wee dram of whisky to toast.

One essential element is the right breathing. Being a Fitness instructor, she teaches fitness classes in her spare time.
