Looking for a new walking route? How about the Eamont Way, a 5.5 mile walking route from Penrith Railway Station to Pooley Bridge Steamer Pier.
The route follows the course of the river Eamont, crossing it twice. It starts with a series of signed pedestrian crossings from the railway station to the edge of the town, then follows a series of signed footpaths, bridleways and ‘permitted paths’ to exit at ‘The Sun Inn’ in Pooley Bridge. From there it is less than 1/2 mile to the pier for the Ullswater Steamers where onward lake travel to Howtown and Glenridding is on offer and onward from Glenridding to Aira Force.
You could get the bus back into Penrith for just £2 single fare!

This weekend marked the fourth time Marsden Racers have stayed with us during the October half term.
Their groups have always consisted of light minded individuals who want to spend the days in the fells on foot or bike and the evenings being catered for with beers from Tirril Brewery and Lakes Brew Company. This year was no different, with home made spaghetti bolognese and chicken/ vegan curry’s being served each night while the log burners on and our staple full breakfasts each morning.
The sauna was enjoyed and Jan provided Yoga in the attic to ease achy body’s. Sunday saw some of the group head out with our front of house- Eeva Sadam to a local swimming spot for a refreshing dip before a relaxed Sunday stroll and Lunch. 👌
It was a pleasure to welcome you all back again and to meet some new members. Good luck to all those that have entered races over the coming months and Sinead who is racing the Spine in January. 💪

In our humble opinion, Autumn is the best time to visit the Lake District, there's still plenty going on but the place is much less crowded. The best bit though, is that you get to see her with her gorgeous golden coat on!

One of our favourite things about renovating New Ing Lodge has been revealing all the old, original features… Can you believe that when we moved in 15 years ago, this lovely stone fireplace was covered over by some awful 70’s brick work and a gas fire!?! Luckily, behind it the open fire place and chimney were completely untouched so all we had to do was clean it up and put in a wood burner!

Hiding away in the back corner of our under cover seating area we have our 10 person Sauna that we installed just before Covid- it hasn’t had much use since then but it got cranked up this weekend and is now ready for our guests!

With some seriously heavy downpours to contend with today @ultra_damo has flown through the Lakes to reach Shap 2 hours ahead of Mike Hartleys 30 year old Wainwright's Coast to Coast record. This was him and crew being welcomed to Shap by @shirt_and_stuff For Damien to bet Mikes record he’ll have to run 185 miles in less than 39 hours, 36 minutes and 52 seconds.
