We would like to say a massive thank you to all our guests who have supported us in 2024. We are now closed until the 31st of January 2025. We are still open for bookings for the 2025 season.

We look forward to welcoming you back after a good rest and with our batteries recharged.

We are enjoying the South African sun with friends and
family. We celebrated 24 years of marriage on the 12th of December and this was our anniversary treat at Ndolvu on the banks of Sundays river.

It's a beautiful day in Patterdale today. Minus 2 and mist rising above Ullswater. Blue skies and very fresh.

We are now fully booked for weekends in December.

We are taking bookings from the 31st of January 2025.

The wild boar has a very welcoming roaring fire when you walk through the door. Fantastic food, and a relaxing ambience. You can have a 3 course meal for £36 or a la carte. We enjoyed the company of our friends who own the Ship in at Coniston.

We shared warm pork scratchings and apple sauce to dip it in. This is all Jimmy talks about! He always loves pork scratchings.

I had white onion and cheddar soup with bread and whipped cream.
I had fish & chips which was delicious with homemade tartare sauce and mushy peas.

Jimmy had a gourmet burger.

We did not have pudding, although if I'd had space I would have tried the brulee.

We have previously had a really nice afternoon tea here too which is quite different to a traditional afternoon tea. Definitely worth a visit!

We have some really lovely places to eat near our Shepherds Huts. We had a luxury swim and dine evening for £60 each. The hot tub was so warm and relaxing. They have a gorgeous pool and a sauna too.

We ate in the Rampsbeck restaurant. I had scallops followed by venison haunch and pumpkin ice cream. Jimmy had mackerel fillet followed by guinea fowl and poached pairs with ginger cake.

Of course I had to have a cheeky cocktail. We have eaten here a few times and it's always very good. The staff are very friendly and helpful too. You can hire paddle boards from here too. It's about 20 minutes from Deepdale Hall.

Fantastic kick off for the festive season! Honister slate mine is really good family day out.

We arrived and had bacon and egg butties. Got our hard hats fitted. We travelled up to the mines in land-rover defenders.

It's not claustrophobic. It's really well decorated with Christmas delights. It's a 400 year old working slate mine . The youngest miner was 8 years old. Georgia was chosen to do a demonstration showing what an eight year old would do to help in the mine.

We met Santa, and the girls got a gift each. After the excitement of Santa, we had hot blackcurrant and biscuits. I had to duck a lot of the way. We also got a bag of reindeer food for Christmas eve.

If there are spaces left, I would thoroughly recommend this family day out. We are going to return in the spring to dl the via ferrata ( high ropes).
We enjoyed a baileys hot chocolate and brownies after in the cafe.

If you live locally you don't need to stay to use our ice rink. We're open every day from 1 December to 4 January (except for a few days over Christmas).

We have these gorgeous and noisy guinea fowl here at Deepdale Hall. Trying to put them to bed is a laugh, not! Our twins say they sound like rusty swings, lol. They roam about freely.
