Located adjacent to The Howtown Hotel and set in the absolutely stunning scenery of the Martindale Valley, with Lake Ullswater at the end of the drive, Howtown Self Catering Holiday Cottages are a safe haven of rural peace and tranquillity. ottages are the perfect retreat for those wishing to sample the delights of the Lake District in comfort and quality. With two acres of grounds, and only 200 yds from Lake Ullswater with walking, sailing, climbing, riding and golf all nearby, this is the perfect place to ‘get away from it all’. The drop off point for Ullswater Steamers is on the doorstep, and access to the nearby villages of Glennridding, Patterdale and Pooley Bridge is available by steamer, so there is really no need to get in back in your car until the day you depart. Spectacular walks abound and the delights of dining room in the Howtown Hotel are there to be sampled, together with the Walkers Bar where you are welcome to while away a few hours sampling the local ales on offer or the tearoom adjacent to the hotel which is open 7 days a week from 10.30am serving a range of delicious home-made scones, cakes, light lunches and coffees throughout the day. Howtown Self Catering Holiday Cottages are available throughout the year, prices range from £400 to £740 per week

Feeling cosy? Well you will be in one of our shepherd’s huts. We insulate all of our shepherd’s huts with Thermafleece sheep wool insulation.
Thermafleece sheep wool insulation is natural, sustainable, breathable and is excellent thermally and acoustically.
Like us, Thermafleece support British farmers and they only use wool from British farms too🐑🐏🇬🇧
We wouldn’t use anything else.

As we embrace the holiday season and reflect on the past at Howtown Hotel, we've decided to forgo our traditional Christmas cards this year. Instead, we want to express our heartfelt greetings in a different way.

Even though the traditional cards won't be making their way to your post box, please know that you're still very much in our thoughts. In place of the usual cards, we've opted to make a meaningful donation to both Hospice at Home and the Great North Air Ambulance.

We're grateful for your continued support over the years, and we extend our warmest wishes to you and your families. Here's to a festive season filled with joy, and a prosperous and healthy year ahead.
