Photos just in - hot off the press. One of nature's greatest spectacles happening right now in Tanzania - the annual wildebeest migration through the Serengeti! 🐃
Visitors are being treated to an incredible experience by taking to the skies with
Drifting silently over the vast plains in a hot air balloon provides a bird's eye view of the powerful movement of over 1 million wildebeest, zebras and gazelle.
Trip:
https://farandwild.travel/africa/tanzania/trans-serengeti-balloon-safari-expedition
The sheer numbers are mind-boggling, with the massive herds stretching as far as the eye can see. You can hear their thundering hooves and see the dust clouds they kick up from miles away. It's an overwhelming sensory experience.
The balloons float just overhead as the animals surge across the plains, always on the move in search of fresh grazing grounds. At times, they hover above dramatic river crossings, allowing guests to witness hundreds of wildebeest.
An aerial hot air balloon safari is truly the best way to take in the full scale of this natural miracle. It's an experience that leaves visitors in awe of the sights and sounds of the great migration - one of the most humbling and powerful wildlife spectacles on the planet.

Fascinating Facts about Rhinoceros:
🦏 A rhino's horn is made up of compacted hair - it's essentially the same material as human fingernails, just on a much larger scale!
🦏 Rhinos may look big and bulky, but they can reach speeds of up to 55 km/h (34 mph) when they really get going.
🦏 Rhinos have terrific senses of smell and hearing, but very poor eyesight. Their vision is thought to be around 20 times worse than humans.
🦏 The name "rhinoceros" comes from the Greek words "rhino" meaning nose and "ceros" meaning horn. Quite literally, it means "nose horn."
🦏 Baby rhinos will stay with their mothers for 2-3 years before being weaned and going off on their own. Mother rhinos are very protective!
🦏 Rhinos are excellent swimmers and can even have underwater births if needed. Their bodies are perfectly buoyant in water.

Our team member just got back from a fabulous adventure at Sosian Lodge in Kenya. Read below Matthew's account of his visit…
“This past weekend I had the pleasure of heading up North to check out one of Laikipia’s little gems. Sosian Lodge sits on 24,000 acres of wilderness and is a working cattle ranch as well as a charming little safari lodge. After a 2 hour drive up along some rather interesting dirt roads, I arrived just in time for afternoon tea (my favourite part of the day). With a few biccys now fuelling me on, I met my two guides for the evening and headed out for a game drive. Lions, elephant, giraffe, zebra, impala, a red-and-yellow barbet, and lots of dik-dik took me through to sundowners looking over the ranch (my other favourite part of the day). Dinner back at the lodge was great at a communal table with all the other guests.
The next day was up bright and early with the morning tea call, before heading out on a ride to breakfast. My noble steed was called Wellington, and other than being scared of some cows, was great as we went past buffalo, and zebra, saw Mt Kenya in all her glory and followed some lion tracks before arriving at bush breakfast on a platform over one of the valleys. It never ceases to amaze me how these places can create such amazing breakfasts in the middle of nowhere and this was no exception, I mean how do you cook banana pancakes in a bush on the top of a ridge?!
We headed back to the lodge in time for a swim and lounge at the pool before I, unfortunately, had to head on. It was a great, whirlwind trip, and Sosian is a fabulous spot for those looking for that homely feeling, with plenty of activities and good food, company and game all around.”

Our Sustainability & Charity Manager Anna recently visited our partner charity @PlayItForwardZambia in Livingstone 🇿🇲, and in her words it was “life-changing, perspective altering, and altogether one of the most important trips I’ve ever undertaken in my life.” Play it Forward is an incredible organization using football to empower underprivileged youth through education, life skills & pathways out of poverty. During her time on the ground, Anna witnessed the harsh realities these children face - long walks to school, drought, hunger - yet she also had the privilege of witnessing their unwavering spirit. From the smiles on their faces while playing with donated footballs, to the gratitude for a simple nutritious meal, Anna saw firsthand the transformative impact even modest contributions can make. At @farandwild we're proud to support Play It Forward's mission. For every person who travels with us, we donate $50 to partner charities like Play It Forward that provide education and health activities for youth in Zambia. At schools like Katubya and Nakawa, Anna met the dedicated teachers rallying their communities to provide education against the odds. She bonded with the inspiring Play It Forward staff, who pour their hearts into nurturing these children's potential. "The girls' football team were among the most empowered and ambitious young women I've ever met," Anna shared. "Their sights are set on university and brighter futures thanks to Play It Forward." Find out more at playforzambia.org or inquire about visiting their centers on your next trip to Livingstone with @farandwild #PlayItForward #EmpoweringYouth #FootballForGood #farandwild

Far and Wild Travel was founded in 2017, but has an industry pedigree that goes back nearly 20 years. Find out more about the history, ideas and people that shape what we do – and how we make your holiday experiences “come to life” (that's our strap line by the way).
Our Past
In the early 2000’s I set up and ran one of Britain's leading tailor made tour operators. Commercially speaking we were a successful holiday company. The beneficiaries were our customers and of course our team… as we had a great time doing it. But no one else really.
After leaving that business I had time reflect on whether we’d really done justice to the opportunity provided by customers letting us organize what is usually their most important few weeks in the year. Could a travel company be more meaningful – not just for customers and staff, but for a wider group of people and communities connected to it? I don’t as yet know the answer to that question, but we decided to set up Far and Wild Travel to try.
— Ben, Founder
Our Future
Our mission is to be 'the leading travel company in the world for each of the continents we operate in'. Yes, a bold statement I know - but there's no point beating around the bush is there. And if we attain the very highest standards in all that we do, this should come naturally. We might be focusing on Africa in the beginning, but will soon spread out to cover the rest of the world. Where we go to next will be driven by what our customers want.
Along the way I'm going to build a tight community bringing customers, travel suppliers, and our team, together. We believe this focus on community will create relationships where everyone benefits.
— Stuart, Head of Marketing and Commercial
