It might have been a wet and windy day outside but inside the beautiful Trewidden House many wonderful things were happening. Another successful and enjoyable flower work shop was being enjoyed by a group of lovely ladies hosted by the talented Jenny Oakley of Wild and Chic and the Trewidden team. Many delights such as warm home made mince pies 🥧 and a hearty lunch in the grand dining room went down a treat. This unique experience was one not to be missed and a great start to the Christmas celebrations 🎄😍

Spring is on the way at a Trewidden - and we are now looking for two enthusiastic people to join our changeover team of 6 energetic individuals up at Trewidden House for the last two Mondays of March, then a weekly Friday clean throughout April and the rest of the season

We start at 10am and finish before 4.30/5pm..£12p/h

In light of the Coronavirus and having considered the potential impact carefully for our wonderful housekeeping team and local community, we have made the decision to not take any bookings for Trewidden House until at least the end of April when we will review the situation further.

As it’s the World Pasty Championships today, we thought we’d share our favourite pasty recipe (wouldn’t dare to suggest it’s the best...)
Pastry
1/2 fat to flour and water to mix

Filling (must be put in this order first and CHIPPED not cubed!)
Potato
Turnip (aka swede)
Onion
Beef skirt or chuck
Chips of beef dripping

Chill the pastry before rolling and use the size of plate you want to fill to cut out a circle of pastry.
Mound the potato in the middle, then the turnip, onion, beef, dripping chips and season well between each layer. Use a pastry brush to brush water around the outside of 1/2 the pastry circle before bringing the wet edge to meet the dry edge, press together then crimp.
If you can, chill for 1/2 hour before baking at 200 for 15 mins then 180 until cooked (about 45mins). Best enjoyed with a Cornish cider!

There’s always something to do whatever the weather in Cornwall. In the aftermath of Storm Dennis, a stroll in Tehidy Woods followed by delicious coffee and gelato at the Free Range Dairy... it’s never too cold for Cornish ice cream!

Now this is good news! BA used to provide excellent cream teas on board when they flew this route years ago, hopefully that too will be re-instated!
