We will be operating without a night shift car this weekend after one of our drivers was assaulted and robbed last night in Craigie.

Our tolerant society is becoming intolerable.

TAXI DRIVER TUESDAYS

Here at The Venue we are celebrating our taxi drivers.

These unsung heroes give up their weekends to ensure the rest of us can get safely to and from our nights out 😊

These boys and girls get us to the pubs and clubs - and then home again.

We think they deserve our thanks so we want to arrange a treat for them to say thank you. So for the next ten weeks, we will ask for your nominations for your favourite taxi driver.

Each week we will draw four names and each person will get a £25 voucher on us to enjoy a meal and some beers on a Tuesday. It can be for lunch or dinner. We don’t care - we just want to say thank you for what you do 😊

They can spend the voucher and enjoy their ‘weekend off’. This competition is only available to licensed taxi drivers operating with a Perth & Kinross council taxi license. We will validate their voucher with their PKC issued taxi badge.

We really appreciate the efforts these guys and girls put in to making sure our customers can visit our premises and then return home safely.

The draw for Week 1 will take place on Monday 11th September 2023 and the voucher is valid on Tuesday 12th September.

To nominate a taxi driver, either tag them or post their name and the office they work for. If they work out with an office mention where we are likely to find them and we will do the rest 🥰

We will then choose four winners and contact each of them so they can enjoy their Taxi Drivers Tuesday voucher on us.

Thanks a lot guys (and girls!). We appreciate you.

Folks….Get tagging 😊

Today we will gather with family and friends to say goodbye to our friend and colleague, Steve Martin.
It will be a day of tears and laughter as we remember the man and his wit and humour.
We hope that you will understand that today we will be offering a limited service and as beer will be involved, tomorrow morning could also be limited!

Stay well everyone.

Go well my friend.

07/08/2021

It's with incredible sadness that I must tell you that our great friend and colleague, Steve Martin passed away yesterday after battling a horrible illness. Our thoughts are with Liz, all of Steve's kids and his grandchildren. He will be missed terribly by all that knew him.

Stay safe guys.

SHOCKING: VIOLENT ATTACK ON ELDERLY KIRKCALDY DRIVER WHO HAD THE CHEEK TO ASK FOR HIS FARE!

PHTM was contacted today by John Laidlaw of Treble Twenty Taxis Kirkcaldy. He wanted to share this story of a recent horrific and violent attack on one of his drivers as a warning to other members of our trade.

John said “ My driver, Paul Dowson 64, was sent to pick up a single male passenger just before midnight on Halloween night. At the destination address, when Paul asked for the fare, the passenger in a drink- and-drug-fuelled-frenzied attack grabbed him by the throat, pushed him into the back of his seat and rained a number of punches at his face and body, pummelling him like a punch bag.”

There was no reason for the horrific attack, not even theft; just a pure brutal assault on a defenceless elderly driver.

The police were called they checked the firms dispatch system and arrested the vicious thug at the destination address. He was kept in the cells over the weekend and is now out on bail.

Let’s hope when he goes to court the judge gives him the maximum sentence he deserves.

The driver, Paul was taken to hospital but was discharged next day. Whilst recovery from such an extreme beating has taken some time, thankfully there was no permanent damage and brave Paul, with the support of Treble Twenty and his work colleagues, is now back driving his cab.

PHTM is reminding all drivers, particularly as the festive season approaches to please be vigilant and careful who you let in your vehicle.
Whilst we are well aware that times are very tough – install CCTV if you can and if in doubt, please refuse the fare … better to be safe, and get home to your family at the end of your shift, than sorry....

COVID-19
The time has come for us all to take care of ourselves with regard to the covid-19 outbreak. Whilst 80% of people will be absolutely fine if they contract the virus, it's the other 20% that we should be paying attention to. We must behave responsibly if we display any symptoms by self isolating until these symptoms have gone. With regard to taxi services, it is NOT ok to get into a taxi if you are displaying any of the symptoms. Taxi drivers should not have to play Russian roulette just by doing their job. Stay safe and together we can overcome this horrible virus that preys on the most vulnerable in our society.

Apathy!

Many thanks to the many motorists in Perth who drove past without attempting to help my driver on Pitcullen Crescent last night at about 8.15, whilst he was being attacked by a crazed passenger.
Despite several attempts to flag down other vehicles to help him escape a nut job, who had threatened to stab him in the neck, only one car stopped. We believe that this person called the police before he too had to retreat after being threatened by this thug. Thank you, whoever you are. Thanks too, to Steve Doran of Rabs Cabs, who stopped to offer help. The rest of you are cowardly wankers, thanks for nothing.
Our drivers physical injuries are thankfully minor, the shock of an incident such as this may take a lot longer to heal. The thug is in police custody.
An incident like this serves to underline how vulnerable we are as taxi drivers, next time you see a taxi driver running from a nutcase, don't just pretend you didn't see anything, help him, this could have been so much worse.

Copy of a comment I've left on PKC page.

Very disappointed that the council has failed to make the taxi and private hire operators part of the public transport solution for this weekend's event. Instead our drivers will experience a reduction on their incomes due to the disruption of the city centre road closures. Stagecoach are set to rake in a six figure sum to drive on preferential routes, while the people of, and visitors to Perth are left wondering why they are unable to use the much more convenient and potentially cheaper taxi service. For shame PKC, your preference is to line the already overflowing pockets of an international company, who just happens to have its HQ in Perth, instead of supporting the many hard working taxi drivers who hand over thousands of pounds every year to the council in fees and licences.
How much did this arrangement cost Stagecoach and why have the taxi operators been denied the chance to earn a living, a chance we have paid for through our licences?

That's enough lazing about! I suppose I'd better dig it out.

It's a snow day!

Unfortunately due to the adverse road conditions, we are unable to provide a taxi service at present.

If an emergency situation arises, phone me direct on 07951416485 I will get to you in my 4x4. This is a courtesy service and is for emergencies only.

Keep warm, we hope to be up and running later today.

It's a bit weird.
I only seem to post comments to this page on high days and holidays. I really should use it more often.
We head into 2015 with our profile slightly different. The majority of our fleet now consists of luxury 6 seater vehicles and we now boast a highly specified Mercedes E Class. These changes reflect the development of Thistle Taxis and the different markets that we are becoming involved in.
I have two areas of thanks. First of all our fantastic customers. Without you there would be no Thistle Taxis, simple as that. We not only thank you all for the business you have given us over the past year, but also for the confidence you have in us to deliver the solutions you need.
The second area is our drivers and taxi controllers. Our success is in no small part due to the calibre of our people. Keep up the good work and always look to improve.
Over the past few years both Ally and I have had serious issues to deal with on a personal level. It is during times like this that you realise that many of our customers have become friends. I cannot say how important the support we have received from you all was.
So now, onwards and upwards!
Have a very merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Stay safe and look after each other.

Merry Christmas to all.
A heartfelt thanks to all who have used our services over the last year.
Hope you all have a tremendous time over the holiday period and a prosperous, happy and safe new year to all.

08/07/2013

Yes it's that time of year again. T in the Park is upon us. We already have several bookings, but there is stuill plenty of room for those of you going through.

Filling a car works out much cheaper than taking the bus and has the added advantage of being "door to door".

Give us a buzz on 01738 441122.

29/03/2013

On Saturday April 6th, at The Abbotsford Lounge Bar, we'll be hosting a fun quiz followed by music and a raffle in aid of The Alexis Rose Tribute Fund.

Quizzers will be competing for the dubious honour of winning The Fud Cup, established in the memory of our pal, Gav McCabe, for the piffling cost of only £5 a team.

We're now looking for donations to the raffle, anything considered, we can pick up anything donated or just bring it along on the night.

09/03/2013

It's here again, Saturday 6th April at The Abbotsford Lounge Bar, the annual Fud Cup. A fun night celebrating the life of our friend, Gav McCabe. There will be a fun quiz, £5 for a team of 4, prizes, raffle, music etc etc. Much Inverness Tea will be consumed.....a proper boozy night. Sorry if that's not "pc", neither was Gav!! Ha Ha. Come along, have some fun and raise money for The Alexis Rose Tribute Fund at the same time.
