❤️🖤In the run up to Remembrance Day we felt honoured to visit the International Bomber Command Centre, just outside Lincoln. Our visit included a guided tour with access to the International Peace Gardens, the Memorial Spire and the Walls of Names. Customers commented on the guide’s obvious passion for his voluntary role. We had time for a wander around Lincoln’s Cathedral Quarter and were able to see the Peace Doves soaring above the magnificent Nave, and the wonderful restoration of the Cathedral’s west façade, which is now complete after an ambitious project which had left the building covered in scaffolding since 1986!

🎉Celebrating 102 Years🎉

A very special thank you to everyone that joined us in Eastbourne last weekend to celebrate 102 years of our family business. Highlights included incredible architecture at Lancing Chapel College, an out-of-this-world visit to the Observatory at Herstmonceaux, a super buffet lunch at Top Meadow Golf Course and a filling Sunday roast on the way home. Special thanks to our hosts at Eastbourne's Lansdowne Hotel who offered first-class service throughout.

🍂🚂Celebrating autumn colours in the moors with a ride on the and time by the sea in . We braved the 199 steps up to Whitby Abbey to enjoy views of this heritage coastline, window shopped in Whitby’s old merchant streets and wandered along the town’s famous piers before boarding this carefully preserved heritage line for a 24-mile journey through the autumnal moors to timeless Pickering. “The train journey was absolutely delightful”.

🎟There’s still chance to join us on one last heritage rail ride before the year is out! After warming up with a tasty two course Christmas lunch, board Norfolk’s Bure Valley Railway for a 45 minute journey through the pretty countryside to Wroxham - ‘the Capital of the Broads’. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿Wow Wow Wow! Summer in Scotland was a dream! Even the weather was on our side with sunrises, sunsets and vistas we’ll never forget. In Shetland we were blessed with an outstanding local guide whose endless knowledge made us feel right at home and The Isle of Arran was a world of its own, no wonder they nickname it ‘Scotland in Miniature’, the diverse mix of landscapes was never-ending.

We timed our visit to The Bowes Museum perfectly to see their famous life-size crystal swan, containing 2000 moving parts, perform at its once daily show - it's still wowing audiences after 150 years! This iconic architectural landmark reopened to the public in 2022 following the completion of one of the most innovative and impressive restoration projects the city as seen!

👋Jane recently snuck a day off to meet her sister-in-law for lunch in the delightful town of Bury St. Edmunds. They had a lovely time 'mooching' around the colourful and bustling market stalls and were very impressed by the range and quality of small independents - from haberdashers to vintage. They were spoilt for choice with so many lovely places to eat - it's easy to see why the town is called the 'Foodie Capital of Suffolk'!

💬The Abbey Gardens that surround the Cathedral of St. Edmundsbury are quite simply a joy, so colourful and so well cared for. The Gardens also contain the impressive remains of the original Benedictine monastery, and best of all, they're free! There was a warm welcome everywhere, especially at the Cathedral (be sure to look upwards and admire the Cathedral's beautifully decorated ceiling), the adjoining Tourist Information Centre and the Cathedral restaurant - the Pilgrim's Kitchen - where a delicious (great value) lunch was served promptly and with a smile.

🕵🏻‍♀️ DETECTIVE FOR THE DAY. Team member Jane recently visited the King Richard III Visitor Centre in Leicester, she received a warm welcome from staff who are clearly so proud of their city and its royal links. The ground floor tells the story of Richard's life and how he came to gain and lose his crown, as well as delving into the endless speculation as to whether he murdered the princes in the Tower!

The first floor (there is a lift), moved firmly into the 21st century, focussing on the intensive research and archaeological activity that eventually led to the discovery of the King’s body and ending with a fascinating insight into the forensic science that enabled the remains to be identified - it was like being in an episode of Silent Witness!
