Please be careful if out dog walk as baby seal on path behind food factory, ideally avoid but please ensure all dogs are on a lead and do not approach the seal pup.

Update from BDMLR:

Medics went to check last night and was slowly making its way back down rocks so was decided to leave over night instead. A Medic should be back out this morning to see if it made its way back down towards the water. Do not put this pup back in the water as the white coat is not waterproof and needs to be slowly moult over next few weeks. We will see what happens over next day or so if is still on path and then does need to be relocated

Currently having the pleasure of spending a little time staying at one of the cottages at Buchanness Lighthouse, Scotland.
After an early start yesterday which included taking in the sights of Edinburgh Castle, Armageddon like rain and a visit by the AA rescue man we arrived a little later than anticipated !
Once near Buchanness no sat nav was needed, we simply followed the light.
Beneath the flashing light our little haven. On opening the door we were greeted by warmth, cosyiness, an eclectic mix of furnishings and an inviting bed after a long day.
Quickly asleep under the flash of the light, the stars and nothing to be heard only the sound of the wind and the ocean.
Today up and out early to investigate in the morning light when there was a glimmer of blue to be found in the sky before rain hits again.
I am always amazed how places like this make me feel. It's like hitting a switch in your brain and realising how fabulous being close to nature is. Feeling alive and setting aside worries.
A kind of reset and a place to drain away negative energy...perhaps carried away on the waves !

We are still attending to as many of the grounded shags as we can. This individual was rescued from inside Iceland Foods in Fraserburgh yesterday afternoon, having initially been hiding behind a bin the bird took the opportunity to run into the store when the doors were open to seek shelter from the bad weather. Although we have limited capacity currently due to the volume of seabirds in need of help, and strict biosecurity measures which need to be followed to reduce the risk of avian influenza incursion into our centre please do call us if you find these birds sheltering in risky spots or looking unwell.
