ess, including underfloor heating. You can look forward to a good night’s sleep in a luxurious custom made super kingsize bed. Hartoft has the advantages of experiencing dales, moors, forests, while not being far away from lovely market towns such as Pickering, Kirkbymoorside, Malton and Helmsley. The coast is just over half an hour away and the famous historic city of York is less than an hour’s drive. There are numerous footpaths and bridleways from the door, perfect for walking, cycling, bird watching, horse riding, sightseeing, water activities or simply relaxing in general in an idylic environment.

Happy 75th Anniversary to the National Parks and Access to the Countryside Act! 🎉🌿

Seventy-five years ago, this ground-breaking law – described as the “people’s charter for the open air” – passed through Parliament, creating the UK’s first National Parks. This act opened the countryside to everyone, ensuring that future generations would be able to enjoy and protect these incredible landscapes.

From 26 miles of coastline to deep forests and rolling moorland, our National Park has become a treasured place for adventure, relaxation and connection with nature.

As we celebrate this milestone, we look ahead to the next 75 years and the important role our National Parks will play in tackling the climate and biodiversity crises.

Another great local in town 😁 in nearby Pickering. We like to pop in for a pint after a walk with the dog 🐶 😊 and our guests enjoy visiting too 🍽️ 🍷 always a good selection of beers 🍻 😁

It may be a bit of a foggy morning, but last night it was clear and I viewed some great stars, so a good start to the Skies Fringe Festival 24. If you are in the area, it's worth attending one of the many events, run by local businesses or even travelling here to see what's going on.

Called in at Sutton Bank National Park Centre on the way home yesterday, glad we did! Beautiful walk along the top, what a stunning day and views. 😁😊

Easy access walking for anyone who wants to get outdoors but perhaps miss the hills! Plenty of footpaths leading off the main track for more active walking. Also more cycle paths and plenty of bridleways and cycle hire too. 🚴

Even better day that Pip had one of her magic days with amazing focus, only lost it a bit at five off lead dogs zooming by, a little exciting but recovered well! 🐶 😁🥰

Where are we? Hartoft, a little hamlet near the better known village of Rosedale Abbey, the nearest town is Pickering and not too far from coastal towns such as Whitby, 35 miles north of the city of York and we are actually situated in the stunning North York Moors National Park.

Dalby Forest, a bit of a dull day but good views to the Langdale Forest on part of the Jerry Noddle trail. Loved the sheep sculpture by Fiona Bowley. A Winged Sheep carved in a sandstone rock, a small shrine (an aedicula). The small procession of sheep bow and kneel in homage to the Winged Sheep above them and almost looked like they were smiling!

Sunny walk at the beach and stumbled across these little artworks 😊
