Caorann Lodge Tummel Valley Holiday Park

Caorann Lodge Tummel Valley Holiday Park Caorann Lodge (KooRrAn means Rowen/Mountain Ash) private home from home, beautiful lodge, peaceful And we still haven't done it all!
(2)

I have been coming to Tummel Valley for almost 18 years, I love it, being in rural highland Perthshire surrounded by trees and Lochs, its wonderful soul food, and every time you go theres always something different to see, as the seasons change, the colours change giving everything around a new life, even in the dreariest of days its still very beautiful. We bought Caorann Lodge because of our lov

e of Perthshire, Tummel and because of its situation, surrounded on two sides by trees and a wee burn. It's restful, peaceful and yet theres so much to do, everywhere around . My children have been coming for years too and now our grandchildren love it as well. We been river tubing, dolphin watching, quad biking, horse riding, fed deer, panned for gold, walked a faerie mountain, tromped through snow, snuggled up, been to the enchanted forest, geo caching, visited the theatre, had spa days, walked through forests and over burns with stepping stones, visited Highland games local and father afield, big and small, seen castles and horse trials, took trains to Edinburgh and Inverness, stepped in the footsteps of our ancestors at Culloden, marvelled at ancient Yew trees. We wanted a home from home feel to Caorann Lodge, somewhere theres something for everyone - including the dogs šŸ˜Š. We are dog lovers ourselves so have tried to make sure you know where you can take your dog locally with no issues. We are open to feedback and constantly updating our place to make it even more homely and comfy. We really hope you enjoy all that rural Perthshire has to offer and that you love Caorann Lodge as much as we do.

Highly recommend a visit to the Scottish Crannog Centre , Loch Tay , very informative, dogs welcome (except for inside museum) interactive with folk dressed as ancients demonstrating techniques from food to wood to clothing and stories in the huts outside. Very friendly informative staff. Cafe (dog friendly) , loos, wee shop. Definately worth learning about the ancient people whose footsteps we walk in šŸ˜Š

Thereā€™s an app called ā€˜Treasure trailsā€™ it lists treasure hunts in the area and around, and you can download them, Costa about Ā£10 or less, gives you a couple of hours fun for all the family. You get to see places and find out stuff you didnā€™t know. Most are suitable for dogs. Kids love looking for clues. Highly recommend - picture from Pitlochry ! Pitlochry, Aberfeldy, Blair Atholl and more!

Some ideas of what to ā€˜doā€™ and believe me there lots not listed!

Tummel valley

Faskally woods is lovely, thereā€™s also loch Tummel where you can picnic, thereā€™s a walk along to the Aqueduct which lovely from the site. Towards Pitlochry and before Queens view there Allean Forest walk which is wonderful you can look for trolls and fairies šŸ˜‰thereā€™s loos there too.

Thereā€™s loch Rannoch and the Rannoch hotel for water activities, (6 miles from site) thereā€™s Pitlochry and Moulin, Blair Atholl Castle and grounds with childrenā€™s play area. They also sometimes have special activities on so worth looking at their website.

Killiecrankie and visitors centre, Park at the Garry bridge and walk along under the bridge to get down to the river or walk to Killiecrankie. Lovely walk of about 1.5 miles.

Aberfeldy has a cinema, falls and activity centre. Kenmore has a beach, thereā€™s also a drive out to Fortingall Yew tree and church, very ancient area, plus a hotel next door for tea. On the way visit the Crannog Centre and see how ancient folk lived .

Thereā€™s Highland Safaris too on way to Aberfeldy you can pan for gold and gems and feed the deer (kids love it) cafe there too.

Checkout if thereā€™s any Highland Games on too and ā€˜ Nae Limitsā€™ for all sorts of activities and sports for all ages, white water rafting etc.

Dunkeld and the Hermitage are both also worth a visit.

Further Afield, thereā€™s the Highland Museum (check it out on the website)

Thereā€™s ā€˜beachesā€™ by Tummel loch but not really sandy. You come out the site, turn right, the left over the bridge , keep going as if to Aberfeldy , thereā€™s a turning on the left for Foss - itā€™s a narrow road with lots of passing places, along this road thereā€™s ā€˜beachesā€™ where dogs can swim kids can paddle you could kayak. If you stay on the road it will bring you out heading for Pitlochry . Thereā€™s also beaches at Rannoch. At Kenmore , and along loch Tay .

At the Garry bridge thereā€™s places to get down to the water though pebbly, dogs donā€™t care and neither do kids. šŸ˜Š

If you want to explore a bit go to Loch Morlich near Aviemore, water sports and a cafe on a gorgeous sandy beach

Youā€™re only a few mins drive from the queens view - a short walk and wonderful viewpoint. There is a playpark in Pitlochry and the hydro dam is great to explore. Lots of cafes and restaurants in Pitlochry itself. Wander round atholl palace gardens. The theatre has kids events on, and the explorers garden.

Faskally forest is beautiful (if you ever get a chance to go to the enchanted forest, absolutely do it!).. The highland chocolatier is a must! Best hot chocolate EVER. The Beatrix potter garden is in dunkeld, and again another playpark nearby.

Perth isnā€™t too far a drive away and has other activities, and walks etc. Thereā€™s a soft play and a new inflatable play area. Scone palace is a really good day out. Active kids adventure park is always amazing, whatever the weather (Think you still need to pre book for most place) And thereā€™s an ice cream place beside it.

Rannoch train station is worth a jaunt (the Harry Potter death eaters were filmed there too!). Everything is easily accessible and not too far to drive. You donā€™t need to stick to the twisty road either!

If youā€™re going to Aviemore check out Rothiemurchies for loads of activities, or the highland wildlife park, the Cairngorms have tubing events and the McDonald hotel has grass sledding, archery, stuff like that on sometimes. Thereā€™s a soft play (not always open), a couple of playparks and some nice cafes.

The park itself has entertainment on every day that it is open. Crafts, sand art, unicorn crafts, wizard academy, fairy hunt to name a few. Plus the kids disco, Starland Kew and family games. The pool has its own activities, including a pool party with inflatables & toys, and thereā€™s an arcade room and playpark on site.

Go to the Garry bridge thereā€™s a couple of walks, this side of it (so donā€™t cross it) both go up passed an old church yard then you have a choice to go up over the hill (itā€™s a bit steep but sign posted ) itā€™s a proper walk and about a mile and half to the top , once there it opens up and thereā€™s ruins of old crofts keep going and you eventually come back down in a circular route you will end up doing about 4 miles - alternatively continue on passed the sign on your left for that walk along the road and you come out in killiecrankie to an old stone bridge, you can then walk back past the visitors centre this is a bit longer walk and the path is a proper path/road . You go passed fields itā€™s very pleasant. But longer. You can also go down the steps at the Garry bridge and cross the old metal green bridge and walk along the river to the Killiecrankie visitors centre which is another lovely walk not quite as far I donā€™t think the paths quite good but it is a path and can get muddy. (Hope that makes sense) you could also walk to Faskally woods which is lovely you can park close by and itā€™s sign posted. In Pitlochry thereā€™s a walk up past a pond to the golf course and out into Moulin, get yourself a pub lunch and walk back into Pitlochry

Or walk the Faerie Mountain - Schiehallion ā¤ļø
