Some ideas of what to ādoā and believe me there lots not listed!
Tummel valley
Faskally woods is lovely, thereās also loch Tummel where you can picnic, thereās a walk along to the Aqueduct which lovely from the site. Towards Pitlochry and before Queens view there Allean Forest walk which is wonderful you can look for trolls and fairies šthereās loos there too.
Thereās loch Rannoch and the Rannoch hotel for water activities, (6 miles from site) thereās Pitlochry and Moulin, Blair Atholl Castle and grounds with childrenās play area. They also sometimes have special activities on so worth looking at their website.
Killiecrankie and visitors centre, Park at the Garry bridge and walk along under the bridge to get down to the river or walk to Killiecrankie. Lovely walk of about 1.5 miles.
Aberfeldy has a cinema, falls and activity centre. Kenmore has a beach, thereās also a drive out to Fortingall Yew tree and church, very ancient area, plus a hotel next door for tea. On the way visit the Crannog Centre and see how ancient folk lived .
Thereās Highland Safaris too on way to Aberfeldy you can pan for gold and gems and feed the deer (kids love it) cafe there too.
Checkout if thereās any Highland Games on too and ā Nae Limitsā for all sorts of activities and sports for all ages, white water rafting etc.
Dunkeld and the Hermitage are both also worth a visit.
Further Afield, thereās the Highland Museum (check it out on the website)
Thereās ābeachesā by Tummel loch but not really sandy. You come out the site, turn right, the left over the bridge , keep going as if to Aberfeldy , thereās a turning on the left for Foss - itās a narrow road with lots of passing places, along this road thereās ābeachesā where dogs can swim kids can paddle you could kayak. If you stay on the road it will bring you out heading for Pitlochry . Thereās also beaches at Rannoch. At Kenmore , and along loch Tay .
At the Garry bridge thereās places to get down to the water though pebbly, dogs donāt care and neither do kids. š
If you want to explore a bit go to Loch Morlich near Aviemore, water sports and a cafe on a gorgeous sandy beach
Youāre only a few mins drive from the queens view - a short walk and wonderful viewpoint. There is a playpark in Pitlochry and the hydro dam is great to explore. Lots of cafes and restaurants in Pitlochry itself. Wander round atholl palace gardens. The theatre has kids events on, and the explorers garden.
Faskally forest is beautiful (if you ever get a chance to go to the enchanted forest, absolutely do it!).. The highland chocolatier is a must! Best hot chocolate EVER. The Beatrix potter garden is in dunkeld, and again another playpark nearby.
Perth isnāt too far a drive away and has other activities, and walks etc. Thereās a soft play and a new inflatable play area. Scone palace is a really good day out. Active kids adventure park is always amazing, whatever the weather (Think you still need to pre book for most place) And thereās an ice cream place beside it.
Rannoch train station is worth a jaunt (the Harry Potter death eaters were filmed there too!). Everything is easily accessible and not too far to drive. You donāt need to stick to the twisty road either!
If youāre going to Aviemore check out Rothiemurchies for loads of activities, or the highland wildlife park, the Cairngorms have tubing events and the McDonald hotel has grass sledding, archery, stuff like that on sometimes. Thereās a soft play (not always open), a couple of playparks and some nice cafes.
The park itself has entertainment on every day that it is open. Crafts, sand art, unicorn crafts, wizard academy, fairy hunt to name a few. Plus the kids disco, Starland Kew and family games. The pool has its own activities, including a pool party with inflatables & toys, and thereās an arcade room and playpark on site.
Go to the Garry bridge thereās a couple of walks, this side of it (so donāt cross it) both go up passed an old church yard then you have a choice to go up over the hill (itās a bit steep but sign posted ) itās a proper walk and about a mile and half to the top , once there it opens up and thereās ruins of old crofts keep going and you eventually come back down in a circular route you will end up doing about 4 miles - alternatively continue on passed the sign on your left for that walk along the road and you come out in killiecrankie to an old stone bridge, you can then walk back past the visitors centre this is a bit longer walk and the path is a proper path/road . You go passed fields itās very pleasant. But longer. You can also go down the steps at the Garry bridge and cross the old metal green bridge and walk along the river to the Killiecrankie visitors centre which is another lovely walk not quite as far I donāt think the paths quite good but it is a path and can get muddy. (Hope that makes sense) you could also walk to Faskally woods which is lovely you can park close by and itās sign posted. In Pitlochry thereās a walk up past a pond to the golf course and out into Moulin, get yourself a pub lunch and walk back into Pitlochry
Or walk the Faerie Mountain - Schiehallion ā¤ļø
