A slice of heaven in Highland Perthshire! 🏔️ ✨️

Loch Moraig, nestled in the hills above Blair Atholl, is a beautiful loch encircled by pine trees and overlooked by the magnificent peaks of the Beinn a' Ghlo Massif. 🌿

Just a short drive away from our holiday cottages, this area offers a wonderful array of breathtaking and interesting trails to explore. One of our favourites is the Beinn a’ Ghlo Round; a spectacular walk that includes climbing three munros! 🥾

Beavers! Love or loathe I think this talk will be fascinating. Really keen that it's well attended. Please come along if you can. Tickets are only £5 each and I heard that the Perth talk Duncan did recently was very good.

Join us at the Birks Cinema on Tuesday 9 July at 7:30pm for a fascinating talk by restoration ecologist and fishing guide Duncan Pepper who will take us through a new approach to understanding rivers and cover the range of beaver effects upon both rivers and salmon. Finishing off with the good news....

Spent the day at Argaty Red Kites (Doune) on Monday. Firstly in the squirrel hide, then in the Red Kite hide and then spent the evening filming beavers (see video below). Our environment needs beavers so a good day to share this video.

Today, we celebrate our beautiful planet and the incredible diversity of life it supports. World Environment Day reminds us all of the importance of taking action to protect and preserve our environment for future generations.

In honour of this special day, we’re sharing owner Steve's powerful message about our rewilding project ReWilding Lettoch and the importance of helping nature recover in the UK.

Did you know the UK is one of the most nature-depleted countries in the world? Intensive agriculture and grazing livestock, like deer and sheep, have led to widespread biodiversity loss. Alarmingly, one in six species are at risk of disappearing from the UK, and more than half (54%) of our flowering plant species have significantly declined.

Rewilding Lettoch is a small scale rewilding project located in the geographical centre of Scotland in Highland Perthshire. We're relatively small in size but big on ambition to share our story and influence others to take up the cause to tackle the climate and biodiversity crises.

Whilst we are not officially part of SCOTLAND: The Big Picture wonderful rewilding community Northwoods, we enjoy a very good relationship with them and their growing community of rewilders.

Rewilding is not something that we can just leave to others so we decided to roll our sleeves up and get involved, and thanks to NatureScot and their Nature Restoration Fund grant scheme we have been able to get our project off the ground. But you don't need a grant to make a difference. You just need to know that you're action is vital, whether that be rewilding part of your garden, or your Highland Estate, whatever you happen to have influence over. And of course there are many projects out there, probably closer to you than you realise, that could always do with a helping hand to help nature.

Managed a day out with friends and the camera on Thursday in lovely weather. We visited Murton Wildlife Reserve near Forfar, and Arbroath. I had a wonderful encounter with a pair of Coots and their chick at Keptie Pond in the middle of Arbroath. I guess because it's right in the middle of an urban setting the wildlife is pretty tame and wasn't bothered at all by sitting watching them feed for 10 minutes. Amazing.
