The Stable Loft is cosy, spacious accommodation within a 200-year-old farmhouse and is formed within a converted hayloft. The house itself is in Foss in Perthshire. It is a peaceful oasis, surrounded by scenery and nature in the heart of Highland Perthshire. It is tucked away from it all, but it is easily accessible from the A9 near Pitlochry.
The house is at Foss on the south shore of Loch Tummel, near the west end of the Loch. It is right in the heart of Scotland, close to Aberfeldy and Pitlochry. Foss itself is a small hamlet in the Loch Tummel valley, sitting between Pitlochry and Loch Rannoch, in the shadow of Schiehallion, Faerie Hill of the Caledonians. The views from the Stable Loft are second to none, and it is surrounded by scenery and nature. The setting is a farm steading location with large private fields to the front, leading down to the shores of Loch Tummel.
The Stable Loft has two bedrooms (one double and one twin), a large picture window with uninterrupted views of Loch Tummel, and it is situated around 100 metres from the Lochside. There is a log-burning stove, WiFi, Nest-controlled central heating, a patio area, barbecue and Lochside camp area with firepit. At the bottom of the field, there is a small beach area with direct access to the loch, where boats and kayaks can be launched, and fishing rights on the loch are included.
The main features of the Stable Loft are the views and the wildlife that surrounds it. You can sit and watch the sunset and the weather, red squirrels outside the window, ospreys, deer and lots of other wildlife around. There is fishing for trout and pike on the loch, with advice available from the owners on local hotspots. Boat and kayak launching is permitted from the shore.
There is one double room with a large wardrobe and dressing table and one twin room with a large wardrobe and chest of drawers. There is a modern shower room with a heated towel rail and plenty of hot water. The living accommodation comprises a large open-plan sitting room/dining/kitchen, and there is a boot room/entrance area. There are comfy sofas and new beds equipped with quality mattresses for a good night's sleep. The kitchen is well equipped, with everything you would want to prepare meals and enjoy a glass of champagne or a dram of whisky.
If there is anything you would need but cannot find in the kitchen, then the owners live next door and will happily lend you anything that you might require. There is satellite TV and WiFi available. There is modern central heating controlled by a Nest thermostatic controller.
Outside the Stable Loft, there is a patio area with a picnic table and your own barbecue for you to enjoy uninterrupted views to the loch. At the lochside itself, there is a picnic area with seating and a firepit, where you can enjoy sitting of an evening, watching the views and the wildlife around a campfire. There is private parking with plenty of space for cars. For those with children, there is a stair gate, cot, high chair and fire guard. There are also two additional put-up beds available, meaning that the Stable Loft can comfortably sleep up to six people if required. There is a dishwasher, washing machine, heated clothes dryer and outside washing line. There is also a large trampoline outside for the children (or adult children). All towels and bedding are supplied, and a welcome food pack and starter bag of fire logs will be made available on arrival.
The Stable Loft is dog friendly, and the owners would request that if you are intending bringing dogs, to let them know of this in advance.
