What a delightful place Greenways is … perching above the banks of the River Dart it exudes both the glamour and calm of a bygone age.

Everyone I met was so kind, helpful and obviously loved being there! A great place to visit (and work in!) - Thank you.

Enjoying the sunshine in Plymouth’s Ocean City this July. What a lot there is to see! We’ve had the SailGP races in Plymouth Sound, the new media infused Market Hall opened its doors in Devonport and people are wild swimming, paddle boarding and enjoying in the water every day. Even I’ve been in for a swim 😂

What a beautiful place to be today. The sun shone and the sky was blue as we walked from Princetown to Hexworthy today.
We laughed, we admired these spectacular views and we even saw a new born foal. Then it snowed!❄️☃️❄️. (And the sun came out again!)

What a perfect day.

Please read to the end if you’ve got time (& we all have that!!!) In March 2020 I wrote this: I am a Tour Guide without any Tourists! The Cruise Ships have cancelled, the airports are empty and as Hotels, Restaurants, Pubs and Cafes close their doors to the public there is no-where to go anyway, even for the locals. Social distancing has made ghost towns of cities around the world.

I'm self employed; a sole-trader who works alone. Without any Tours to host, times will become hard - as they will for 1000s of others in the 'hospitality' trade. I have total respect and admiration for the local restaurants and bars who are thinking 'outside the box' and continue to offer great food and drink in unique ways. Hurrah and thank you! And thank you too to the NHS nurses and doctors who are working tirelessly to treat those who have already contracted the dreaded Covid19.

I've pulled on my thinking hat and am attempting to think outside the box; I'm conjuring up an array of crazy 'strange' ideas (nothing new there I hear you say!) of how to keep afloat. Ideas welcome ~ !

Well! The ideas came and the lockdowns continue. It’s January 2021 and we’re huddled up in our homes ... There’s a glimmer of hope regarding vaccines but probably not any time soon for most of us!
I just wanted you all to know, I’ve set up Jayne Ashenbury Art during lockdown & spend my days painting & taking photographs and feeling incredibly fortunate to live in this tiny corner of the world by the water.

I know some businesses have flourished but most small, local, independent ones are sinking fast or keeping afloat by the skin of their teeth. So the message from March 2020 still stands 😊

I headed off to meet these two lovely people & take them on a tour of Plymouth ... we explored high & low, took the ferry, walked miles & had a delightful few hours together. Afternoon tea was delicious! Thank you everyone who helped make the day special for them. 😘
