I spotted this on High Road this morning. I’m pretty sure it’s a silver washed fritillary but please correct me if I’m wrong. Apologies for the poor photo, it didn’t want to stay still. It seems to be missing a significant chunk of its left wing, but it still flew beautifully!! One for the nature board.

Churchwood is now EV-ready!

We are pleased to announce that Churchwood is now equipped with a new EV charge point. Situated on Middle Road we have a two-socket 7.4kW Type 2 charger. We know that many of our guests arrive with electric vehicles and for a long time we've wanted to make them as welcome as possible and allow for on-site charging. All you'll need is your own cable and access to the M***a app. Happy motoring!

What a tough day at work!!
Last Thursday, myself and Rowan dropped national trust rangers Dave and Tim, out to the Mewstone to erect a no landing sign. Due to dwindling numbers of nesting seabirds after the recent bird flu pandemic, it more important than ever that people don’t land on the island and disturb the remaining bird population, particularly during nesting periods.

What a day 🙄 From dragging teenagers out of bed🥱😴, to making multiple lunches🥪, dealing with all the animals🐓🐶, traffic on the school run 🏇 and then a tricky commute 🌳🌸🐦‍⬛🦉. I finally get to work and I’m faced with this….give me strength…. It could be worse I suppose 😂😂😂

WILD SWIMMING AT CHURCHWOOD
Here at Churchwood we are lucky to enjoy a great variety of wild swimming opportunities. From our own safe and beautiful Wembury Beach, to Plymouth Marine Park’s designated swimming area at Firestone Bay. We also have a great variety of wonderful beaches and estuaries on our doorstep, such as Bigbury, Mothecombe, Wonwell and the gorgeous River Yealm. We also have Dartmoor on our doorstep with some great swimming spots such as Crazy Well Pool and Sharrah Pool. If you love your wild swimming, come and see what we have to offer….

These are the results from the first month of our new wildlife board. We’re over the moon with the engagement we’ve had and the variety of wildlife our lovely people have spotted. The stand outs for me are:
Osprey
Dolphins in the bay
Adders/Grass Snakes
Fox Cub
Red Kite
Roe Deer
Hummingbird/Poplar Hawkmoths
