I’m afraid IVY031 will not be operating this morning.
We had a call during the night to tell us that the driver has be taken ill.
We now have 5 drivers absent so we have no one spare.
We are sorry for the inconvenience this will cause.
We are trying to get cover for the afternoon run, so will update you later this morning.

We have a vacancy for a vehicle technician/mechanic.
The role will be to service and inspect our fleet of minibuses and midi coaches to DVSA standards and prepare vehicles for annual test.
Flexible hours available to suit the right candidate.
Good rate of Pay which is negotiable depending on qualification and experience.

TAV003 school bus is running extremely late this morning.
The bus is still going to run the full route. If any students are able to wait for the bus it is running an hour late.

This is our new workshop/depot in Tavistock.
We have just had the 1st of two vehicle lifts installed by Hickleys Garage Equipment.
This is for our minibuses.
Great job done.
Big thank you to Adam Dawe for connecting the electric supply at the same time so the lift could be tested and certified today 😊

We can offer between 25 and 40 hours per week depending upon what you are looking for.
Mainly Monday to Friday work.
Driving vehicles from a 16 seat minibus to a 33 seat midi coach.
This will be covering school contracts and local private hire work.

IVY032 the Ugborough Primary school bus has broken down this morning.
A replacement bus is on route but the bus will be running about 30 minutes late this morning.

It is very probable that Oakleys operated school buses will not be running in the morning on Monday 12th December due to the ice on the rural routes. We will post an update in the morning.
Tavistock College and Milton Abbot Primary Schools are not opening until 10am. We will assess the conditions in the morning regarding the buses running.
Our routes affected in the Tavistock area are TAV003, TAV016, TAV017, TAV019, TAV025.

Route affected in the Ivybridge area are IVY021, IYV022, IVY031, IVY032, IVY605, COOM149,

BG001 school bus route will be assessed in the morning also.

Our early 52 and 52c bus route may be affected also but again we will try and keep you updated as early as possible in the morning.

We will update information in the morning once a risk assessment has taken place.

Oakleys Coaches are looking for a Fully qualified commercial vehicle technician.
Working from our workshops in Lee Moor.
40 hours per week Monday to Friday. Hours can be flexible.
Salary negotiable depending on experience.
Ranging between £27k and £37k per year plus the opportunity for overtime.
We are offering some extra company perks which include free bus travel for you and your family.
We are also interested in talking to applicants who may only want to work part time.

The applicants need to be able to carry out 6 weekly periodic vehicle safety inspections and complete all paperwork to DVSA standards.
Carry out vehicle repairs and MOT preparations.
Diagnose vehicle faults and repair as required.
(We do have the latest diagnostic computer equipment)

We are also offering on going further training.

We are a small family run business so are looking for someone who will fit in as an important part of our team.

Regrettably from the 15th August Oakleys Coaches will no longer be operating the 59, 55,56 or 98 bus services.
With the rise in fuel cost and the increased costs across the board we needed to try and increase our prices to operate the bus services.
All of the bus drivers needed a well deserved pay increase due to the cost of living crisis.
The only way to do this was to put the services up for re tendered.
Unfortunately we have been beaten on price by Plymouth CityBus. 😞
I have to say. It has been a pleasure serving the local communities with our buses. We have put 100% effort in to trying to give a good reliable service.
We are all very sad to be losing these services.

The 59 service bus is stuck in the lanes between Bickleigh and Shaugh Bridge due to a tree fallen a cross the road.
They are working on it to remove it.

We no longer need packing boxes as we had two pallets delivered thank you very much

We are being very careful on what we are excepting as the charities in Poland do not require any secondhand clothing or sleeping bags due to the burden it puts on them for cleaning and sanitising checking we want our aid to be able to get to them and then to be sent straight out to where it is needed not stuck in a storage unit waiting for cleaning checking.

This list is not everything we need so it will be updated on a regular basis.

PS as yet we have not seen any signs of these big organisations out in Poland helping the people what we are seeing is lots of little groups like ourselves doing what they can

We are planning to transport aid to Warsaw in Poland to help the Ukrainian refugees once they cross the border to Poland.
We are also planning to transport refugees to safe houses after dropping off the aid.
Please help us to help them and to make this happen.
We are joining up with Darren’s Cars of Callington to travel over to Poland on the 15th April in a 25 vehicle convoy of aid.

Weʼre raising money to Help transport aid over to Warsaw in Poland in 4 minibuses. Then to transport Ukrainian refugees to safe homes through Europe plus the UK.. Support this JustGiving Crowdfunding Page.
