Last night, we were kindly invited to the launch of two new exhibitions at @theboxplymouth, John Lyons: Carnivalesque and Windrush in the Far Southwest ✨
Carnivalesque marks John Lyons first retrospective exhibition, featuring over 40 pieces of art, including paintings, drawings, and sketchbooks. Each piece explores the rich folklore and mythology of Trinidad and Tobago, with a special focus on the colourful carnival that takes place there every year, just before Ash Wednesday.
Windrush in the Far Southwest was developed in conjunction with The Box’s Culture Club and explores the stories of the people who came to this country to support its post-war rebuilding and their descendants who live in Devon and Cornwall.
It was fantastic to hear from some of those who have worked on the creation of the exhibitions and helped bring them to life, before having the chance to explore them ourselves.
They are incredible and definitely worth visiting, plus your visit will help The Box hit the milestone of 1 million visits!

🗓️ John Lyons: Carnivalesque & Windrush in the far Southwest are both open until Monday 5 May.
